Give it up for Tiesto, the world's number one DJ, DJ, DJ...

I love the fake echo effect Tiesto's occasional MC does. Always good for a laugh.

Posted by Scoops on Nov-07-2007 14:47:

oh wow....

one time Ruthie from Real World was MCing a nite at this club in Jersey and she couldn't go 5 minutes w/o blabbering over the mic, it got to the point that I almost went up to her and told her to shut the fuck up

Posted by montana on Nov-07-2007 14:58:

mc's could work with trance, even in term of busting out rhymes at events, people are so narrowminded when it comes to that kinda stuff. it just most mc's at 'trance-events' are terrible.

Meh, I still disagree. DnB sounds way better without some chump talking shit over everything.

I'm just not into MCs at all.

Depends on tone of voice. Check out Black Sun Empire - Sideways (feat. Illy Emcee), maybe it changes your mind.

Afrika Islam aka Mr. X, right?

Edit: Back on topic... That Lady MJ from the video was disastrous.

Posted by 4clubber on Nov-07-2007 17:06:

what about dj's who get on the mic? from what i've seen mostly dj's without a clue tend to do that, and it turns out to have a disastrous effect even though they think they're the shit. most big pro dj's don't do it, and there are some that do it really well (carl cox being my favorite, he can really feed the crowd with his energy).

Posted by isoterra on Nov-07-2007 18:27:

idiots like stretch shouldn't even be called MCs.. anyone can get on the mic and occasionally big up the DJ/tell the crowd to make some noise or whatever. he picks the most inappropriate & intrusive moments to do it too

haha, i just had a comical flashback of yoji biomehanika doing that at sensation black a few years ago. didn't quite have the same effect

i think judge jules is the best for it. i don't particularly enjoy his sets that much but he has a way with words & a perfect announcer voice

hhmm durand got on the mic a few times at his gig in melbourne few weeks back, wasnt too bad just said "melbourne i love u" ect

was better then some idiot constantly saying "insert dj in the mix"

There's a DJ in Chicago we saw who had a sample CD cued up all the time that just had (presumably) his voice saying "You're listening to Erik K, in the mix....!"

I always had a good laugh at that.

And unless we're talking hip hop, MC's aren't for me.

As if, she pops up on TA. Shes a "scenester" round here. She can usually be found at hard house and happy hardcore nights gurning her face off.

Apparently shes a...

MC, Singer, Songwriter, Rapper, Model, Dancer.

She actually is just bad at all those.

The main memory of her I have is being at a chill out bar at 7am, I was coming down like an old block of flats. I had been dancing to some nice tech house all night.

At this chill out bar though, they had a Hardcore room and it cold be heard very well up in the chill out bit, suddenly se appears, belly hanging out, fluffy boots, sort skirt and starts doing "the" happy hardcore dance.

Here is a video of her doing it at the other local haunt "OC's"

http://www.dontstayin.com/uk/birmin...6/photo-6060917

This is after a 12 hour hard house night called polysexual. It was fucking grim working there.

lol, just lol.

HAHAHAHA

That cracker ****!

wtfffffffffffffff, just get some chav/g-unit type off the street and dress them up as fucking cat woman, and you'd have an equivalent to the atrocity that is her youtube video.

"Innit innit innit innit innit, YO YO YO, innit"

Ah, a thread about MC's from the trancecracker perspective. How painfully ignorant.

Well, I really do love KFC.

Posted by Taranis on Nov-08-2007 12:23:

Don't mind the good ones while listening to a set in person, a shitty MC who won't shut up is an awsome way to ruin a set though. Imo, too many of them think that they should be the focus of the night, and not just a background feature there to occasionally psyche up the crowd.

MCing on recorded sets always annoys the shit out of me for some reason though. I wish there was a way to cut it out and just have the set play, if I'm listening to a recorded set I just wanna hear the music, don't really care what the MC had to say that night.

Posted by Beatflux on Nov-08-2007 14:51:

I think I would like to hear a singer who could improvise on the spot. I think that would be a nice addition to vocaless trance songs.

Dig up the Ferry thread from June 2005 in MWTA and you can read about it for yourself
