-- Your artistic vision
Pages (2): « 1 [2]
I'd hazard a guess that most people start writing music because of their artistic vision, or drive, to make tunes and get their ideas out. However after the first few tunes with great ideas but poor sound quality, you get sucked into learning about how to 'produce' and make a professional sound. It's this black hole that can be all-consuming because it's just not that easy to get that clear bass and those sparkling highs. Learning production can take years and still you go on learning new things and it's definitely possible to forget why you were making tracks in the first place. The passion is still there, but the balance and focus is gone.
I'm at that place this year where I've spent too long focusing on production skills and now I'm trying to get back to basics and write tracks that flow and come out easily.
Music really is all about the creative spark and using it while it's there on a song and not getting bogged down, however nobody will be satisfied if it just sounds shithouse.
