You got the wrong definition of "mad"!

Not as in angry but as in devoted

As in: I'm mad about you (as opposed to 'mad AT you')

To be perfectly honest, I couldn't give a shit. I hate the England players with a passion, which is something they don't have. All they care about is their salary and their celebrity lifestyle.

I'm mad about Sheffield United and after that I don't really care about much. I guess the most depressed right now are those who don't get to watch their team week in week out like I do so only have England success to look forward to!

Of course I want England to win, but at the end of the day, I didn't chose to be English so it's not really that much of a big deal to me!

well, ive been a big football fan since i was a kid, and back then we really only got to see the EPL on tv (go liverpool!) so when it came to world tournaments they were the obvious choice for me. so im just totally miserable now, i cant imagine a euro without my team

and i think gerrard cares about more than just his salary, he's a true champion and i would like to have his babies.

Gerrard?! He's the biggest **** out of the lot of em! Diving cheating twat!

It's time for English people to wake up and accept we have an average team with one or two really good players. We're not on a par with Italy or Spain or Germany. We have a culture in England where people only want to be a footballer so they can be a celebrity. It's so ironic that the only person who cares about England is Beckham, and he's the biggest celebrity out of the lot of em - note to England players - Beckham is a celebrity because of his ability and commitment that made him a great player...

Nah mate, fuck England! They didn't deserve it and hopefully this will give the entire England set up a kick up the arse and make things right...

I made a facetious comment about you being a "bandwagon" or mainstream supporter of Beckham; like a fanboy who just loves him for his celebrity status (or because he's hot or something). Just kidding, and it's no more funnier than it wasn't before.

Ahhhh ok. It's just that your complete lack of knowledge/interest in football (or as you may call it "soccer") means that your attempt at making a joke about it was always doomed to fail. Maybe you should stick to cricket jokes?! Or...erm...well just stick to cricket jokes ok?

(Or when you say "we" did you really mean Canada? In which case stick to jokes about ice hockey, or...erm...well just stick to jokes about ice hockey!)

He couldn't have meant Canada, we do understand Brits. Maybe he meant Pakistan.

BTW, when talking to a Canadian the word ice in advance of hockey is unnecessary... if it isn't on ice it isn't really hockey.

No, you got it right! I was referring to Pakistan. But I resent the footy comment! I love my European football; not a fan of a particular team but love a good match between Arsenal and Chelsea, or Inter vs. Juve, or Real Madrid vs. AC Milan. Oh yeah, I guess Manchester United is a team, too Sheffield who? lol

Actually hockey = "real" hockey, and ice hockey = well, ice hockey!

Actually it's a version of shinty.

This thread really has gone quite far from what I thought would be in it lol.

EDIT: Ahhh I see.

Noticed that Scotland dig George... least we didn't come 4th equal (basically)!!!

But really this highly negative attitude to your players don't you think when you're asking so much from them YOU should support them (ergo England) too?

It's not like I ever expected them to win the World Cup or anything! Only to qualify for a tournament! I know that might be asking a lot from your team but these players get paid as much as the likes of Ronaldinho and Kaka! In fact, I'm sure that the average Premeirship wage is the highest in the world. They're quite simply not worth that if they can't even qualify for a tournament. But in their own minds, I don't even think they care about being good or successful at football as long as they can fund their celebrity lifestyle. There should be a cap of 25,000/week (fuck me that's a stupidly high wage right there!) and thrown in they should get a business degree or PE techer training so they have something to fall back on when they retire if they don't go into coaching/managing. That'll stop the tossers thinking they're important when in fact they are among the most insignificant plebs in society (apart from Beckham and Rooney who actually seem proud to be playing for their country - something fayadeen doesn't understand given his severe lack of knowledge about football so he only knows David Beckham as a 'celebrity')

He's probably not even from Pakistan so the cricket jokes are probably lost on him! Altho I hear cricket has a following in Canada...

lol good one. no argument here. I've met the team several times when they came to Toronto to play India in the Sahara Cup in the late 90s. Bunch of drunken wankers if you ask me! From time to time, when the payout is right, they'll show up! lol

Edit: I shouldn't say that about all of them, though. The ones who respect their religion are a bit more humble are definitely beautiful people. The other ones are like George describes of his English players.

And you, Mr. Smiley, if you watch them play and their heart isn't in it, chances are they SUCK and it has nothing to do with pride for England, ffs. Talk about making gross assumptions!

Edit2:

And just to fill out the whole profile here, because you do give me sufficient attention when I was in Saudi for 13 years I lived with Aussies for most of them and they taught me how to play cricket (lol yes I'm that good!! LOL!!) then I played for my boys' school in Toronto for 4 years and won various bowling awards (not such a big deal because Canadian players suck) but most students that played cricket in the independent school league were boarding students from the Carribean and Europe, so there were some good challenges from time to time). Highlight was a UK tour I was on in 1995 when we played Eton, Harrow, Winchester, Wellington (if I remember correctly), and a couple of other schools. We almost beat one of the public schools we played, and I can't remember which one. I was on a hat-trick and then I sprained my ankle shortly after lol what a loser.

And I've been a goalkeeper in soccer throughout grade school (1-8) and high school and also intramural in university (not for the school team, but intra-college). Did pretty well in that regard, too, if I don't say so myself!

Again, your lack of knowledge about football lets you down. We see these players playing for their clubs week in, week out, putting in amazing world beating performaces. Then we see the same players play for England, and they simply don't care. All they care about is who pays their wages. Beckham was the exception as he seemed to play miles better for England than he did for Man Utd...

I shall also add Michael Owen to that list

So, two players care about their country...
