I wonder what the general reaction would be if you renamed the thread title to:

Another recommendation for ER20s

I just ordered one of those custom earplugs ones. Haven't gone to sending the mold back yet though. (Expensive as hell to buy!)

dude I wore both to the club before, the ER-20s/or similar are like 10x better than the yellow foamy ones, the yellow foamy ones muffle sound, whereas the ER-20s just makes the sound a lil quieter so you hear everything just at a lower volume, I can't wait to get my custom ones, every musician and DJ say that they're worth every penny.

i think that is correct, they "die", basically they just fall over and never get back up, and you'll never hear that frequency again. however there are cochlear implants, i think that surgery replaces the little hairs that have fallen over.

Nope. Cochlear implants are basically devices that send sound signals directly to the auditory nerve. They're made up of a microphone, a transmitter, and a sound processor. Hearing with these implants is not the same as regular hearing.

Nerve fibres are not hair cells. The inner ear has inner hair cells, outer hair cells and nerve fibres aswell. if the hair cells dissapeared as a result of a hearing loss, then how would a hearing aid work?? the hairs are still present after you loose your hearing, however they are not as stiff as they once were

Buddy, you can argue with me all you want...but I took a course on hearing loss for nursing and know what I'm talking about.

All hearing aids do is amplify sounds.

If you really want me to give you anatomy and physiology lesson on the ear and hearing, you can come over to my house and I'll go through the relevant chapters in my texts with you, lol.

who's arguing?? you took a course..?? im in a program focused on hearing loss.

yes hearing aids amplify sounds, which means that the ability to hear is still there, thus proving the inner/outer hair cells are still in existance and are not destructed.

what would you teach me..? you thought hair cells were nerve fibres

I've used the general orange ones, the ER-20s, and now I have custom molded ones. The custom molded plugs were about $200 total, but if you go out as often as I do, I think it's really worth the price tag.

Get customs made. They are well worth the money and will last you many years.

I've had mine since 2003. I just had my hearing checked this morning and it is unchanged from 2003 (with many hundreds of nights out since then).
