I had kidney surgery when I was in kindergarten. More scary than anything - all I remember is the hospital room and getting a stuffed animal as a comfort present.

I was supposed to have knee reconstruction a couple of years ago for a succession of football injuries, but I decided walking away from the sport would be better than spending the next three months in a wheelchair.

twice. once a month ago for wisdom teeth. this was easy cause it didnt really hurt much and didnt need the pain meds. just the anti-inflammatory.

and the second was when i was 5. one of my testicles had a hole in it. it would fill and drain fluid. when it was swelled up it was 2x its size. they went in and made like a 1" incision in my groin area and fixed it. i was so fucking sore. i wobbled like a penguin but that hurt a ton too. i was in a lot of pain.

had my tonsils taken out when i was a kid
under GA, had a sore throat for a while otherwise it was fine
at the time think my parents opted to pay $800 upfront to get me above the waiting list

had lump removed from my breast when i was 16, which resulted in 3 more surgeries after that.
All done under GA once again, hurt like all fuck, spent a night in intensive care, 3 days in hospital and it took well over a week to recover, think all up it exceeded about $25,000


and then had another lump removed from my neck this year.
Done under local, didnt cost me anything and didnt hurt much coz i stole drugs from work so i wouldnt feel pain

Ok, fine, since everyones sharing their testicle/breast stories, I might as well share mine.

I had a damage salivary gland in my mouth once. It didn't hurt, but it was weird. Doctor just had to go in and fix it. I'd been kicked in the face too many times so it busted me up once. :s

I've got one of them on my inside lip. How did he fix it? Slice it off?

where to start? well

when I was 2, 3 and 4, i had surgery on my eyes. 2 was blocked tearducts (don't ask me how that works) and one was a squint.

when I was 8 I had a lump removed from a testicle. got 2 weeks off school and my grandparents bought me a master system. I loved it!

when i was 14 i had some glass removed from my wrist. It got there whilst chasing my brother after he cheated at basketball and he slammed the back door shut on me (those who've been to my old house will realise it's a plain glass door)

Aged 19 I had 2 wisdom teeth dug out of my bottom jaw. 1 week of codeine was my reward.

when i was 24 I had another operation on my eye as the muscles had weakened again on the squint, it was all tightened back up & trimmed a bit. gross actually remembering the eyedrops and everything this time around.


You know what rocks though, when u come around from anaesthetic and ur all sickly & woozy and u kinda look at the clock, then next thing u know ur waking up about 4 hours later. what a powernap.

It wasn't my choice, it was the doctor's choice. I don't even remember what was wrong with it by they wanted to fix it by circumcision and then it happened.

I don't really have a problem with it, but I do wonder how would it feel masturbatintg with all the foreskin on my boomstick. And it was done for a reason of some kind too. I don't have a problem with circumcision when it's done for medical reasons or just because one really wants it done, but I don't accept doing it like a ritual to babies or very young people, who don't even have the chance to understand what's going on with it, or decide whether they want the surgery to be done or not.

A. An adadictomy.

Knee surgery (arthroscopic), the surgery itself was fine because I was completely knocked out, I woke up and for a day felt great because of all the pain meds, the proceeded to rely on them for 3 more weeks.

Worst part was that I had a drain tube in my knee for about 2 weeks to drain all the fluid off it, which I had to empty manually. It sucked. I also got a blood clot in my knee the day after surgery which sent me back to the emergency room - also major suck.

I had my parents insurance, so the deductible was all that was paid, and in the end I'm glad I had it done (even with the horrible stuff), but still feel the effects of it today.

Yeah, he just cut it out. Now I don't think I salivate out of that area of my mouth anymore. Still doesn't save my pillows from getting utterly drenched.

It's weird. You'd only notice if you looked at them closely, but they have sort of an off-white colouration to them. Dentist told me they were "dead" because of all the shock over the years.
