I had a good time. For my humble 0.02:
Im not sure who the dj(s) before zoltar or whoever was..I liked most of the tracks I heard, mixing wasnt bad but then again he was using a laptop. Main critism I had was the music was wrong for the time. Alot of peak time progressive was being played and its just simply not going to work until you have half the dance floor already full. So.. good tracks..just work on programming.
Zoltar or Zordon or whatever he calls himself could really use some improvement on his mixing skills to say the least. He had alot of decent tracks (that came out years ago), but half of the mixes were either trainwrecked, mis-phrased, or otherwise out of key. Most of the crowd was still by the bars until Cosmic Gate came on.
Cosmic Gate's set I can find no fault with and they did a hell of a job. Great tracks, great mixing, great vibe. I initially expected them to play material exceeding 138 but I was glad to be wrong.
Only improvements I woulda made was the sound system but it wasnt too bad...and to the XM people *SATY OFF THE GODDAMN MICROPHONE!!!* Those lil Radio XM jingles the interrupted Cosmix Gates said every now and then were killin me. I suppose this kinda shit can work at your mainstream events where the socialite crowd really doesnt give a damn about the talent, but at events like this..its highly unnecessary.
Despite the mild annoyances, including a few in the crowd that were doped up on whatever and coming close to getting punched...I had fun
Great seeing a few old friends there.
Yes Cosmic gate owned
Mathias the dj before Zoltar was Mark D. he is part owner of the club and has been around a long time. he can be a very good dj when has a good vibe. Also the laptop was serato. So he still had to do all the work as a dj and to ad to it he was using the vinyl instead of cd's with it. so nice.
Zoltar is a very cool guy in person great to party with but like mathias said when he got on what there was of a crowd was gon 2 songs later almost like when steve plays lol JK bro. the crowd was gone untill cosmic gate got on.
This is what impressed me the most. 1 i have never seen mixing the way they did it ever. they did it in a very sweet way. also when they got on zoltar was at about 136 so cosmic gate started at 136 went to 137 to 138 all the way back down to 130 and then back up to 135 and the best part is you would never know the track and know how fast it plays. it was very good stuff.
Nick has got to be one of the funiest people i have ever met. and them fucking germans can drink a fuck load.
