Oh, you hate your job? Why didn't you say so? There's a support group for that. It's called EVERYBODY, and they meet at the bar.

a bit vague, but i have been in the first job i got after graduating three years ago. i just dont really want to work for the government right now - but that would be my best option|

beyond that i have experience in menial work that would earn me more than my current job, im just a pussy - or an optimist, hoping that something better will happen...

First of all, how is it possible that you can have ANY degree and still make only that small amount? No offense, but just having ANY DEGREE entitles you to a better salary. It works like this:

If you have a specific degree, let's say computer science... you work in an entry level programming/analyst position, and work your way up. You usually make great money fast, but your career field scope is pretty limited. It is doubtful your degree and career experience will entitle you to do much else outside of the IT field.

If you have a non specific degree, for example I have a history degree. Doesn't exactly train or certify me for anything specific. So, I grab an entry level job and work with the brains that I got from college and work my way up. I really do work my ass off. As such, I've about to hold my third title for my company, and I've only been there less than three years. I make pretty decent money. But... I've made some pretty lamentable sacrifices. I hate my job, I'm way uptight, my dating life and my sex life are very much lol...

But don't take it to the horrible extreme i have, and find yourself an entry level position and work your way up. It takes more self confidence than anything else. Just trust that you'll be able to handle any work they throw at you, and if you can't... well then, you move on.

Like Igaryok, I work for a financial group too so my company is hurting really bad, they cancelled the whole IT departments christmas parties, raises are probably as bad as my sex life so it's not good. But I realize this now before I snapped, that I am 25 and I need to be going out more, making more friends, meeting more beautiful women, etc etc etc...

Sucks though, they might be offering me a position that is very well suited towards my likely part time pursuit of law school. They keep either paying me enough or offering me enough experience to stay... ugh ugh ugh. I'm checking out the craigslist job ads as we speak

because the world doesnt work that way anymore.

our parents were on the trailing edge of a world where a degree guaranteed you a life.

now, you either get your shit together without a degree, or a high school education, or you have to get your masters.

oh, they canceled your christmas party? that sucks...

oh i work for starbucks, thats why my career is shit|

look at it like this (scenario): u can work for 3 years w/ no school and eventually make $15.00. or u have a degree with -no- work experience and make $15.00 at your first job out of college.

college is your foot in the door, and you have to start somewhere. where you go from there is ENTIRELY up to you. it gave u running shoes, now run with them.

Are you kidding? Kiev (where the poster is from) is 28th most expensive city to live on Earth. To put it into perspective it's more expensive than San Francisco, Miami, Los Angeles, Berlin, Dubai, Frankfurt, Munich.

Most important thing with a job is if you don't like it YOU change it. No one is looking to do you a favour, hence it'll never change by itself.

Took me awhile to realise that properly, never be an optimist holding onto changes which are controlled by anyone else.
