I'm probably just bullshiting here...

but being a DJ is much easier then being a producer (I'm 99% sure thats true)... and also I reckon its probably better to be a DJ for a while before you try producing... I mean that way you get to hear more tracks before making your own (and you've also got djing to go back to when you inevitably get frustrated and give up).

Depends.

You could be someone who doesn't give a shit about producing quality music and just adding your preset kick+snare to all your "remixes", e.g. Sean Tyas or Deadmau5. I doubt that's hard at all.
