Please do. Vegas is fucking awful

I was in Vegas 2 weeks ago for a friend's birthday and we went to Empire Ballroom because they're the only club open for after hours (or so we were told). Honestly one of the worst DJs I've ever heard. Terrible tracks and trainwrecking every single mix. Every one for an hour and a half

By the way his name was Joey Mazzoula (or something lame), supposedly has the number 1 track on beatport...too bad it doesn't exist. What a fucking joke.

Every Wednesday we have been doing a Godskitchen residency at Body English. There is always an open bar from 10:30 to 11:30 and it is always free to get in for all locals and out of state females. the crowd consists of nothing but locals and industry people wanting to have a good time.

Since we have started in October we have had Felix Da House Cat, Sandra Collins, Roger Sanchez, Tall Paul, Benni Benassi, Donald Glaude and Oscar G.

I can assure you that for 2008 which will be disclosed very soon that you will see a very diverse line up all year long.

I know this is off the topic of the original post, but I agree about the scene in Vegas. It seems like ever since Ice shut down, the scene has dropped off tremendously. I didn't care for Empire, and haven't been to Drai's in a long time. I don't understand why the best EDM night in Vegas appears to be on a Wednesday.

yup...

the best time to party in Vegas is during the week. Thats when the locals are out having a good time...

the weekends are horrible... everyone is just like cattle (and sometimes treated that way)...

week nights in Vegas are AWESSOOMMMMEEEE!!!

Posted by Shafer8 on Dec-12-2007 21:29:

Yes it is. It is a very decent club that holds about 750 people and has a great sound system. the way it is laid out as well make it great vibe wise.

We also have been doing shows at TABU the Ultra lounge in the MGM with this concept called House of Style where we marry a fasion show with a DJ. it has been working out really well. Talent in the past have been Pete Tong, Oakenfold, Harry Choo Choo Romero, Chris Lake, and a few others. the room only holds 375 people and is always off the hook with a good crowd that is all about EDM.

Vegas is good, you just need to know where to go

Posted by Shafer8 on Dec-12-2007 21:32:

We gear the night for the people of the town. Free entry, free open bar to start you off and always treated right!

To be honest the last 3 months have been capacity everytime with nothing but locals who love EDM and everyone that usually works on Thursday, Friday and Saturday which make a really good crowd.

2008's line up I can assure you is just as good as what ever the West Coast has to offer as Las Vegas is a perfect mid week stop over and the event is always a great time with no politics or bullshit with catering back to the community.

I'm not trying to "chime in", but just in defense of Joey Mazzola, I have to. He's an old good friend of mine, (he's originally from SF, and made a move out to vegas a while back). He's been djing for almost 14 years, and used to tear it up every time. He still does a few shows occasionally here in SF, and everytime, I'm still impressed. I admit I haven't heard him play in vegas, but as far as i know from what he tells me, its totally happenin out there. He also has a lot of great productions, (new & old), he's got a bunch on Dj Dans label, and also BlowMedia (hatiras label), and Soulmatic (Richard Vission/David Garcia). Hopefully he was just having a bad night or something, because he really is a great DJ/Producer. I dig all of his tracks...just my two cents

Production wise his older stuff sounds much MUCH better than what he's making today. It's too bad he's catering to the crap electro sound, but whatever that's his choice. As for djing...after 14 years he shouldn't be wrecking at all. Ever. No excuse for that.

100% agreed. His older stuff is wayyyy better. (and I feel sorry for all the dj's that are catering to electro... but i guess it's "whats in" ) and he shouldn't be wrecking... maybe he was having a bad night...(hopefully...) i know he quit drinking a few months ago...maybe that's why all the trainwrecking

to comment on the original topic of this thread...all i have to say is ...welcome to the guvernment in toronto...ill guarantee u its 1000 times worse in toronto than anything u guys speak of...considering TO is primarily asian to begin with...the examples stated in this thread are so premonent at the guv and they have absolutely no courtesy or regard for anyone. they make their fuckin 15 person long trains and fuckin push thru the crowd like they own the place...and dance exactly how u stated...annoying as fuck

LOL

I want to see someone defend this one. IMO, there are very few things which happens in a club that tops the train. If you ever thought that the washing machines were ugly, the train will blow you away.

Posted by Shafer8 on Dec-12-2007 23:09:

Who has that photo of the train at Avalon where the conductor ending up with his head on the speaker as he obviously ran oput of gas!

LMAO as that was the best one yet!

Posted by TSG on Dec-12-2007 23:11:

Love is in the air

hahaha... trains run on gas?

I LOVE LA.... always something to see, never a dull moment!

Posted by Shafer8 on Dec-12-2007 23:15:

Someone has to have this photo PLEASE, it is the best one yet!

Posted by bucke on Dec-12-2007 23:23:

washing machines piss me off big time! and its not about being in the front and taking up space or who deserves the space more, but they are all over the place and they huddle in groups of 4-6, and fucking spin around like retards, bumping into other people with no regard for anyone else. what a waste of valuable dancing space.

Posted by Shafer8 on Dec-12-2007 23:25:

Someone find that photo as I need to laugh! It was a thread a while back just not sure how to find it with out spending hours on end.

Posted by R!CH on Dec-12-2007 23:30:

i'm telling you, the only way to get rid of washers is to ruin their night by pushing them back and irritating them in all the ways they irritate you. if they spill your drink on you, pour the rest of it on them. i mean how hard can it be to knock out a drugged-out zombie if it really comes down to it?

Good idea!

I remember a couple summers ago @ avalon, some washer bumped into me, causing me to spill my RED WINE all over my white pants. I was so furious. I tapped her on the shoulder to tell her what she did, and she just looked at me with her eyes rolling behind her head, and it seemed like she was mentally in another world and wasn't hearing what I was saying.

Thinking back now, I should have spilled the rest of my wine all over her pathetic, cracked out face.

Posted by S Nate Faulkner on Dec-13-2007 00:52:

My wife got burned by a washer's cigarette...I had to hold her back from killing said washer. Funny though, I stopped her because I really wanted to have an enjoyable night and not get kicked out of a place we paid good money to attend, but I can't remember what show it was, but I sure as shit remembered the incident. Mental note: next time let fury happen, it'll be a more entertaining and longer last memory.

Gina and I did it at home once (we a bit tipsy, hint hint) and it was actually kind of fun!!!!!
