Speaking of which, why doesn't someone get a permit to rent Dundas square for Saturday afternoon and have a day rave there just an idea....

the best part is when the second van shows up

Ya, that would be awesome if there was a massive of some sort in Dundas square. And make it more like a concert than a rave because I heard that raves are illegal on public property.

They're not illegal, they're just VERY VERY VERY hard to do on public propery unless it's staged as some sort of demonstration.

Anti Adam Vaughan demonstration?

I'm game. It'd have to be advertised like crazy and possibly have some sponsorship, cultural society of Toronto, etc (if there is such a thing).

Why NOT do it? lol

Posted by I_Am_Vince on Dec-14-2007 07:22:

So yeah, I was actually interested and wanted to see how much it would cost and what it would take to do a day and night party at yonge-dundas square, here's what I found....

A booking between May 15-Oct 9 would cost $2500 for a full day 7 am to 7 am

March 1 - May 14th is $1650

There are discounts though such as 25% off for registered charities and 15% off for non-profit organizations. Maybe a discount for a charity drive?

Electricity costs 12.5 cents/ KWH

a 10'x10' tent (for DJ booth) would cost $100/day

There's other fees too like electrician, security, A/V technician I don't know if we actually need them or supply our own...

so yeah for like a few thousand bucks (hopefully sponsored) we can actually have an event

I have no idea why they're doing that, but its funny. They are a branch of Orthodox Jews (many of them for hippy-types) that revere some dead rabbi from the Ukraine. Most of them never work, then they have huge families they cant support, yet they always find the money (having begged for it) to go make pilgrimages to the rabbi's grave in the Ukraine 3 or 4 times a year. Some cousins of mine have fallen in with them, its like a cult.

I would be interested in organizing something like this. Ofcourse I would need help. Its definetly not a problem getting people out thats for sure. Could we fence it up and charge cover, with half of the proceeds going towards a charity and half to cover the expenses...
