Never drunk, but I've driven exhausted years back with my old job, falling asleep on the 400 series. Sure I'd have passed a RIDE but I was as much a danger as if I were drinking. Look back on that and feel stupid...and lucky.

i disagree too with the comment that you will blow over after having just over one beer. there are alot of factors. body weight, food consumption, tolerance, time between drinks, etc, etc. for some one beer could do it, but for others it could take 4 or 5.

i've never driven drunk, but i've definately crashed at a friend's house and driven home (or even worse to work lol) in the morning where i could've definately blown over. stupid i know, but atleast i was smart enough to not drive while i was completely intoxicated the night before.

this is going to be a fun weekend.

Not once.
Mainly cuz I'm not much of a drinker.

But even for other things, I wait it out.

Me: NEVER. I like being DD to other TOTAs, though!

Interesting poll results. Seems that for the most part if you have driven drunk, you've done it several times.

Almost a 50/50 split, too!

Posted by exstasie on Dec-14-2007 14:32:

Not that I can recall.

I've driven after I've drinking a few beers after waiting a while. But never when I was drunk.

I have driven stoned many times though.

Haven't driven intoxicated though for a few years. Those were my younger days.

The only thing I do is drive home when I'm kinda tired after a long night.

link to blood alcohol level calculator

According to this I can pound a 40oz in an hour and be under the limit (.08)

Posted by Sly_Guy on Dec-14-2007 14:52:

I used to. All the time, in fact. I didn't care, I'm a big guy, I can handle my booze, and what's worse, is that no one around me can ever tell I'm hammered until I'm way past the limit and getting behind the wheel would be less of a challenge than finding my car. I had one really bad night involving drinking a bar dry of redbull double vodkas, a couple pitchers of beer, and smoking a J before getting into a car and driving home from hamilton. Lucky for me it was 4am with no ride anywhere on my route, or I woulda been fucked. I remember the ride home, the caffine and the alcohol putting me to sleep and waking me up all at the same time, I couldn't pick a lane, my reaction time was cut by at least 75%. But I 'had to get home' for some reason. I did make it home, couldn't sleep for a couple of days, went to play basketball like 5 days later only to feel weird shit happening with my heart so I stopped. I looked at the side effects of caffiene on erowid, and found out measured by relative mass in rats, I had consumed a lethal dose of caffiene at 1.6 grams. That experience set me straight, never again.

Intoxicated and over the legal limit are two different things... you have the alcohol tolerance of a 5 year old girl (so do I, I guess that's what you get when you don't drink).

I wonder how many ppl have drivin drunk and gotten pulled over and got away with it. i know a few of my friends were soooo lucky... one time my buddy was goin 90 in a 50 up north and w0men cop pulled us over, he blantly admitted being drunk to the cop..she was like drive straight home and be carefull -then she had another call to attend to. That could make for a interesting poll!

Something's still wrong. There's no way a person can drink that much in an hour, and not be considered drunk by the law.

It happened to me before, I only ended up getting a speeding ticket, the cops didnt bother checking if Im sober or not. Now days I wont drink and drive anymore. I learned my lesson by crashing a moped in Cuba when I was 19. Its too irresponsible, id rather not go out at all then drink and drive, or ill be sober at the party. Smoking a spliff and driving is a totally different story.

Here is an interesting British television experiment about smoking marijuana and driving, take it for what it is.

I dunno about that. To me, smoking a joint and driving is similar to drinking a bit and driving. You do get more paranoid, which may "enhance" your ability to drive, but at the same time, I noticed that I do fuck up when I drive while I'm high. Not major fuckups, but I'll forget to check this or that, won't observe properly, etc. So I wouldn't say it's a different story. I cannot honestly say that I'm as good driving high on weed as I am sober.

^ it was only one guy driving under the influence... that video doest prove anything

I do also make some mistakes when I drive after smoking, trying to cut that down specially when out at nights like this.

For those that are still unsure, drinking more than 1 beer bottle, or 1 glass of wine, or 1 shot of 40% alcohol would send you over the legal limit.

funny, i just heard on the radio that "a 200lb man could drink 6 beers in two hours and likely be bellow the legal limit."

It depends on how much and how often you smoke. An every-day stoner will generally be capable of driving no matter how much they smoke, whereas a weekend-warrior should probably be leaving their keys at home.

It's the same thing with the impairment of alcohol. Some people can be over the legal limit and feel (and in my opinion, be) perfectly fine to drive. On the other hand, someone who only drinks for special occasions may feel too tipsy to drive safely after just one drink, when their BAC might only be .02/.04. Yeah, it's legal, but they shouldn't be driving.

I love getting torqued and going behind the wheel.

Vivid Boy loves a challenge

here's the trick to drinking and driving:

If you try driving on the street you'll end up on the sidewalk. so try driving on the sidewalk and you'll end up on the street.

I laughed at that because I think everything is funny. But obviously you are just fishing for a laugh.

For anyone who really drives drunk... double vision is direct result of having two eyes.

If you are sooooo drunk that everything is split close one eye.. prefereably the right one and then VIOLA!!!! no more double vision and use your left to keep your car in line with the yellow divider on the road.

/WASHING VIVID'S BALLS

Although that advice kept me on the right side of the road...it did not prevent me from losing my license for driving under the influence.

Don't drive high either. I get frustrated when I hear "I drive slower or more careful when I'm high". Its BS. "I THINK Im driving more careful BECAUSE I am high" is much more accurate a phrase.

Any substance that impares your judgement impares your ability to drive. Period. One day there will be roadside tests for all the 'other' substances that impair judgement, and public opinion will finally accept that driving is not a right...but a privelage not to be taken lightly. I have learned that the hard way.
