my ex of 2 years ago still has my board in her garage... unless she gave it to her new man or burned/destroyed it out of spite.

We didn't stop the whole time we were there though. Did both mountains at the resort, did about 20 different runs. I'm so satisfied its not even funny. On a side note, since Whistler is weed capital around here, when we were parking our car at around 8:30, these guys were smoking up hehe. Some people are just too intense, I'm not sure if weed and snowboarding mix very well.

Yeah, we took a little break to get some eats and hydrate.

When we were on the lift there were some guys in front of us smoking weed. Shit i'd be sliding down my back the whole time haha

I've done it once or twice and had fun. As long as you don't get so high you're a safety hazard, you're fine. I wouldn't try anything really difficult while stoned either, but that goes without saying.

i tore my ACL while playing basketball so no snowboarding for me this year. i unfortunately bought a plane ticket to salt lake city before i got hurt. oh well, whistler last year was quite a trip. i vow that my first boarding trip in the 08/09 season will be to a big mountain out west. i love going to stratton and mt snow in the northeast. was boarding with last year's custom and had a custom X lined up for this year. had to return that though

im from sacramento so im relatively familiar.

you have kirkwood, squaw valley, north star, boreal, sugar bowl, heavenly, mt rose, and alpine.

squaw always has quality stuff. boreal is the worst. kirkwood, north star, sugar bowl, alpine and heavenly generally are relatively good. mt. rose is new to me so i am unsure.

I decided to go to REI yesterday with a friend to get his bike repaired. Turns out that they were having a massive sale in the back for members only and I found a few slick deals.

1 - 2008 Burton Custom Snowboard (originally 499.99 and I got it for 42 dollars brand new)
2 - 2008 Ride SPi Bindings (originally 219.99 and I got them for 50 dollars and all they were missing was a screw which I found at Home Depot for 13 cents.
3 - Vans Cirro Boots (Originally 269 and I got them for 73 dollars)

I haven't been up since 1998 but when I found these deals, I couldn't pass it up. I can finally enjoy the same slopes that hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics.

fuck those slopes. brighton and snowbird didn't have any olympic events and those are the best resorts for snowboarders.

Snowbird is where I have my passes for this Tuesday.

Right now I'm in Utah, but sooner or later I plan on going back to Washington. I have to take advantage of these mountains while I can.

You weren't kidding about how nice snowbird is. They still have a 150 inch base and everything is open. I also discovered that a 10 year break from this sport basically sucks.

Solomon 1080's FTW

snowbird is great on a powder day. the second time i went to snowbird i was greeted with 2 ft of pow. since then, i haven't had any pow days there, but the terrain is still great. when it hasn't snowed in a while, i would rather go to brighton.

Yeah, I had two things working against me: first time since 98, and coming off of the ACL, MCL complete tear last June. It wasn't much of an issue most of the time, but it kept me from getting much confidence when turning.

you're a lot further along than me mang, you'll be ok. i had my ACL repair december 26. i had done only about 10 weeks of PT up until my trip and my PT guy wasn't enthused about my going, but he said to take it easy. the hard part about it is that i ride regular and it was my left acl that needed the fixing. turning wasn't too bad, but it was slowing down and stopping on my heel side that sucked. you'll get it back for sure.

I love the off-season. I just picked up an 07 Ride Society Limited 160 for $140 on Craigslist. I have my season pass to Snowbird ready and waiting to be used.

Anyone who needs discount snowboard gear check out
whiskeymilitia.com

They offer one-at-a-time deals that are really discounted until they sell out then a new item is put up.

Theres more surfing/skate gear going up during the off season but there are some SICK deals that go up once the season comes around. You just have to check often since the items get switched out pretty quick.
