Ha Ha

This thread has blown up.

I went ahead and demo'd some monitors and came away weeks ago with the Yamaha HS-50M.

They blew anything else mentioned in this thread out of the water.

I'm gonna listen to them tomorrow. Comparing them to the KRK... how much did you pay for your Yamahas ?

Did you try the ALP5's?

Got a pair of those about a month ago and well happy with them.

The Yamahas were 230 a pair, though i managed to get my hands on a brand new ex demo pair that had not even been tested by anyone but me as they were only out that day.

Compared to the KRK, they are stupidly clear in comparison. They also have some EQ switched at the back which suited me as i have mine placed near a wall (no other choice) so i had to kill the bass 4db on the switches.

When they are sitting in the sweet spot, you feel like you can reach out and touch the music.

KRK's are just too muddy compared to them.

Never got a chance to hear the ALP5.

I would also go Yamaha over any of the other makes mentioned in the thread.
I use MSP5s, very solid and great stereo image.

You might also want to check out Genelecs also very good.

Cheers

I'll be able to compare KRK RP6 with Yamahas side by side tomorrow and I'll bring my cd this time

But what I must keep in mind is that I'm shopping for 2 pairs of speakers. 1 is for mixing and 1 is for computer/producing. I don't think that this really changes what I'll be buying, but I want my DJ monitors to be a bit more powerful than the producing one.

I still want quality > quantity for both pairs, but one has to be more "live club feeling" if you know what I mean...

Yeah, but these guys are looking at speakers in the $300 price range that are going to used in rooms with red brick walls, no acoustic treatment, etc. Genelecs are waaaaayyyyyy out of their price range and overkill for their purposes.

Just to let you know guys, I compared the KRK RP6 with Event TR6. The track that was playing was "The Horizon" from Breakfast. I used that song since I know it very well.

Anyway, I didn't get the speakers yet, money problems, but to my ears, the TR6s sound so much better. More precise, the bass sounds better...everything sounds better on the Events.

As soon as I get the cash for them, I'm buying the TR6s. These babies are insane !
