Talking about Hitler or Nazis in public is one of the most dangerous things to do. Many people here in Germany have gone ashtray because they were misunderstood / chose the wrong words / etc. when talking about that subject.

Figures - someone finally says something sensible and gets jumped on. If there was one very important lesson to learn from WW2, this was it. Hitler ultimately killed jews because deep down, he believed it would make the world a better place. You can agree or disagree with his ideology, but it's just a question of perspectives. If no one understands that, then what's to prevent it from happening all over again? Labeling people with childish and idiotic terms like "evil" only contributes to the problem - which is, ultimately, that it's easier to hate someone than bother understanding them.

Looks like some bitter journalist wanted to twist his words into something much more inflammatory. He said that Hitler's logic was twisted and he probably believed that he was doing 'good' even when he was doing evil. Nobody would find that offensive, or disagreeable. But WENN (who the fuck are they anyway?) just had to spin into something that will definitely push a few buttons:

I'm not really defending Smith, because celebrities should know better than to speak about sensitive issues with the media. What I hate is how they twist people's words into something completely different to manipulate others. That's not fair.

They do this so much with more important issues and it angers me. What's stopping them from doing this with politicians and swaying people's opinions and votes?
