Originally posted by callme ok im going to try and be positive, because i am very curious. Do you intend for this to be dance music?? At that speed people can't keep up...(now im no fan of dnb and to each their own but you cant fucking dance to it either) At that speed , its definately not a listening piece either. Please explain where you are going with this as i am genuinely curious. |
er dnb is roughly around the 180-181 bpm mark.. their is alot of music that runs that speed.
from wiki "The genre is characterised by fast tempo broken beat drums (generally between 160180 beats per minute)".. close enough :P
most house music luvers cant stand trance because it is too fast, and most trance music luvers cant stand dnb cause its too fast. thats what i have found talking to people in REAL LIFE.. (Very different to online internet forums, where even only a small percentage actually post on the boards).
Id be interested in the cds, though would be questioning the quality of the songs etc. And i am aware alot of people wouldnt be able to handle 180 bpm range of music.
Loftgroover 220bpm ftw
I remember dancing all night long sober & without pills on awesome hardcore (I mean, well mastered and not that agressive). I was so stiff then!
i just cant get into something that fast, it turns me off, i guess i'm just getting older. lol @ harcore

serious question, do you think the speed of the track makes something more enjoyable? Or just the speed you take to enjoy it.
most house lovers don't like trance because you can't really dance to non stop breakdowns. They don't want to stop dancing and put their hands in the air like zombies. They usually jusat want to keep dancing. (not the pogo hop either lol)
Drum'n'bass usually has 173 BPM, but it can be anywhere between 160 and 180.

i went with a friend to a "heroes of techno" 5 year anniversary party at P60 in amsterlveen. first person to play was oscar mulero... nice techno... then dave clarke came on and he brought it haaaaaaard....
i was like "dude this is awsome but kinda hard...."
then some other dj comes in... bart skils or jouk deville and omg... that shit was SOOOOOOOOOOOO intense i was just standing in the back of the club sipping a drink... i could not dance to that shit hahah.

How do we know your not going to steal the songs and send em to labels to make a couple of nickles and dimes? Hmm?
hey sounds like a cool idea. all the best with it!!!
Hey the guy seems quite nice, even if his idea is a bit off the wall...No need to tear him to pieces IMO...
I also feel that your tempos are a bit limited.... I think maybe you should have ranges like 110-125 then 125-140 and 140-170. 180 is very high, but I know for a fact that some music can be at 180 and sound quite slow while other music at 120 can sound fast, its all a matter of how busy the track is. It probably isn't worth arguing about.
With your current ranges its awkward, because 120 is good for ambient, but 140 is quite fast for trance, I usually like 130-135 for most of my stuff. Also, if your just going to keep the compilation at the same bpm people will get BORED! Its important to change the speed throughout.
I think we should be more supportive of people who are actually trying to support up and coming producers. Theres another thread here where everyone's moaning about the state of the industry, but when someone has an idea to change things, you all slaughter him - I call hypocrisy. Of course, thats assuming you don't just want our tracks to make a few bucks right Bill?
Again, all just my opinion, but good luck

Yes I produce all kinds of music and I did not want to not include any certain styles of music... Digital Bill |

Originally posted by callme you are fucking crazy if you think anyone will listen to 180 bpm tracks. Just pitch up Samim Heater as fast as you can and get Alvin and the Chipmunks to do vocals. |
