Since I really can't see how the life or death of Benazir Butto will affect me this thread is pointless in my humble opinion.

I found out about this while channel-flipping this morning. All of the news channels had it as breaking news except *gasp* FOX! Their "breaking news" was that some neighbor had found some photos and a note that had Stacy Peterson's name or something. Great job as always. ![]()

I said it before and said it again... I haven't checked fark.com yet, but I bet the tag next to the headline is "obvious" (not "sad"). It was not a question of "if", it was a question of "when".
She knew the risks and well... whatcha gonna do. It sucks and it's bad... but I don't think any politician is honest, unselfish, and straight-arrow. They are all EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM are in it for a personal gain - be it monetary or simply to be remembered and not just one of the gray billions of people on this planet.
Well, she made history... shame it had a sad ending but she knew what she was facing and getting into. I know it sounds cold but I really don't feel anything more than sympathy and regret at loss of human lives. The cynic in me wouldn't allow anything more than that.

Really sad day for Pakistan.
It's just like when JFK and his brother were assassinated in the 1960's here in the USA. But they have Al-Qaida using their territory as home base #1, the situation there is quite volatile, and sure to affect the rest of the world...
