its alright, generic though. original mix is pretty boring imo and the a+n remix sounds not far off tbh.

I think its alright, sounds good in a big room although i think that the original mix is a bit flat.

quite simply b/c it sounds similar to any other vocal trance tune, it has a similar beat and melody.

care to explain to me why u think its not trance at all?

Absolute Gash! He's never produced anything decent since Mercury. Can't stand all that techy discover shite.

Posted by Rinster on Jan-02-2008 16:00:

saw him perform twice in the last 3 months, and to be honest i was disappointed both times. his productions arent that bad, but his sets and dj'ing skills could improve quite a bit more imo.

i saw him play at godskitchen NYE and thought he fared pretty well.. nothing mindblowing but certainly competent & effective. he had the 11-1 slot and did a particularly good job dropping cafe del mar just before 12 and timing it so the melody kicked in shortly before the countdown hit zero. fucking awesome moment

productionwise, i think he's done quite a few shit tracks (this being one of them) but at the same time has had at least one tune in my yearly top 10 for the last 4 years. in particular restricted motion & the chamber, which still remain in my primary cd wallet

Posted by TranceArmstrong on Jan-02-2008 20:36:

Just had a listen and would like to continue piling on. This is horrid. A dub mix might be tolerable. Not as bad as anthem though.

Posted by Stanza on Jan-13-2008 08:02:

Worst track from O'callaghan by far. This is an utter shite effort that sounds like nothing but your typical ASOT cheese track.

No thanks.

Posted by Sinnica Hax on Jan-13-2008 08:09:

@ stanza

Well I have met a terrifying amount of people that seem to produce entirely to get on ASOT which fucking disgusts me and what armin plays and HOW he plays it is god, so fuck it (I'm not saying this is the case with you JOC, just making a point of how fucking generic the scene is today since we're on the topic)

Posted by Jono404 on Jan-13-2008 09:13:

Typical example of a track getting onto the digital download charts then staying there for fucking ages while everyone bums it because it's the first track they see.

O'callaghan has done some stuff I've liked though, Exactly and his mix of how can i put this for example.

make it stop...

Posted by iced_donuts on Jan-13-2008 16:19:

I quite like it, it's nowhere near as good as exactly though and I don't think it deserved track of the year , there have been much better tracks this year. It was good live though i have to say

Posted by Kris G on Jan-13-2008 18:20:

This was one of the better vocal tunes of last year, but it is basically 'Holding on to Nothing pt2'. However what grates me is I don't see this as trance music anymore, its a close relative designed for radio shows, possible chart success and to make money IMO.

The top 3 trance jocks hammer this stuff to make trance more accessable, which again I have no problem with trying to increase the size of the community. What I hate is the younger jocks feel like that have to emulate their styles when they should be creating their own unique DJ sounds. Rant over.

... this thread would be soooo different if it was on T.nu
