Well I do both. Basically if i love the artist I usually buy their album but if I just like the song I usually just download it on the pc.

Why?

If i can't find "apollo 440 - liquid cool (deep forest remix)" to purchase i have no problem downloading the mp3

Posted by goodgreef on Jan-04-2008 08:20:

to tell you the truth - i'll either listen to samples or download songs and then go out and buy the cd.
If i don't like it, then who cares if i downloaded it? it's gone off my computer a few minutes later anyway, no reason to waste HD space.

I buy all my music.

You'd be pissed if someone "stole" your tracks that you worked hard on

A little of column A, a little of column B. It all depends, really.

Yea, because making music for the sake of simply making music will cause me to be "pissed" that someone enjoyed what I did. Sorry, but I'm of a firm belief that once you throw a desire for money into your art that your art begins to suffer. The purpose of creating music is not to make money.

But, that's just venturing off onto what will certainly be the whole "omg downloading vs. not downloading" thread that we really don't want to revisit for the 23,589,673,452,341,852,278.4th time.

A don't buy a lot (maybe 20-30 digital purchases a month + 2or3 albums) from iTunes and Beatport. I get random pieces from the Producer's forum here (Mr Mystery + SnoWave) and rip a lot of music from the public+school library. I have an extremely large collection of pirated music across several hard drives, but I haven't really done any downloading recently because I am growing paranoid of "the man"
