I've been listening to some stuff from Anjuna, lately... but I listen mostly to d'n'b now.

Yes.

I still play and replay all the good stuff from years back.
It's hard(impossible?) to find anything worthwhile now.

Posted by aquila on Jan-06-2008 02:28:

I still listen to it in my car, and I don't mind casually listening to a few sets from the DJ Promotion forum.

Posted by RJT on Jan-06-2008 02:59:

I too solely tread on those grounds for nostalgia trips.

Though there's plenty of good "trance" sounding records out there - it's just no one calls them trance anymore.

I continue to listen to Prog Trance on a decently regular basis, and occasionally find myself listening to some Epic/Melodic material (albeit in very small doses).

Although having moved past my 'gateway' (Trance) music for a few years now, I never quite left it behind, as there always manages to be that thoughtful, quality production that seldom pops up.

Posted by Clovis on Jan-06-2008 03:24:

Rarely.

Posted by Elec on Jan-06-2008 04:09:

I do, but now I listen to a lot more house, techno, and breaks than ever before. I'm not quite as old(skool) as a lot of you here so for me trance is still cool. Other genres usually lack the energy I want.

Posted by Audious on Jan-06-2008 04:29:

I'm still pretty noobish to the Trance scene despite listening to it for a year or so now, so I'm still listening to classic tracks and they're new to me.

I've been focusing on House for DJing, though.

Yeah, rarely do Trance mixes offer anything interesting or innovative in terms of the technical aspects of it all.

I usually don't even pay attention to the mixing sequences when I listen to Trance mix comps, as they usually just amount to a showcase of tracks for me.

Posted by Zewad on Jan-06-2008 04:49:

yes... very much so, but everything has melded so much I'm not even sure that todays trance is what i thought trance was a few years ago..

i still cant stand house..., but that too goes along with how things have changed over the years...

Posted by Turbonium on Jan-06-2008 04:55:

Not really. I don't love it as much anymore (maturity set in). I also feel as though the scene is past its prime, or "golden age".

Posted by Frenchie on Jan-06-2008 04:57:

Why is Trance on the immaturity side?

Posted by Dj O'Callaghan on Jan-06-2008 04:59:

No not for a long while. I started getting bored with it back in 01/02 but tried listening too it for a year or so more and had enough.

Still listen to loads of house, some techno and breaks

Posted by PoisonJam19 on Jan-06-2008 05:01:

I only occasionally listen to trance nowadays. I'm now on an almost exclusive techno and house trip. I'm liking it alot better anyways, even better than the old trance stuff that I considered awesome.

Posted by pkcRAISTLIN on Jan-06-2008 05:02:

all the time. i love it just as much now as i ever did. just not as many WOW tunes getting released as i would like. but there are still a few gems released every year

It's not, but you just grow out of it.

I think it has to do with the emotions trance tends to evoke. Things like hope, happiness, thrills, suspense, grandeur, and all out euphoria. As you get older, you tend to see life for what it really is (generally shit with small bits of "yay" here and there that are short lived), so you tend to lose your enthusiasm for the music that helped fuel your philosophy on life.
