yeah dont like the look either.. interior looks nice though..

I think it looks gorgeous. I've seen the new '08s all over the road and there is no comparison with the previous model. FYI it was Motor Trend's car of the year (in case you missed the bajillion # of commercials for it).

The interesting thing will be seeing how it handles on a track. You can have all the horsepower in the world but that's not necessarily the most important thing (see new M3 vs. C63).

I agree about the ZO6. My dad has an '07 in black. He was paying about the same monthly that he was for a Caymen S. The performance is night and day.

And to all the non-USers bashing it based on history, GM is in the midst of a huge global reorganization of their platforms for their vehicles. The new Chevy Malibu, for example, only relates to the previous model in name. It's new from the ground up and is getting better reviews across the board than the new Camry and Accord.

The biggest challenge for them will be to overcome the last 10 years of mediocrity, especially as viewed on an international front.

Remember how well the previous CTS-V did against the vettes, vipers and Porsches in the speed world challenge series.

I'd still take the E55 or M5 over it. Just so much more class to them.

Its the E63 now, however i would rather have the CLS 63, takes one person less but looks 10 times better

Sit in one and I think you'll change your mind. It's the first CTS to be sold overseas too so that won't be a problem. Cadillac put a lot of time and money into this interior to get their quality up. It's not quite at the same level as a Lexus LS or IS interior, but it's leaps and bounds ahead of the last CTS and other US luxury cars.

I'm not holding my breath. I had the "privilege" to sit in some American cars (i know a guy who imports us cars...just my luck why cant i know a guy who owns a Ferrari dealership) and you cant help but doubt the ability of the Americans to make a proper luxury car when your 01 Fiat Punto diesel has better quality plastic in the interior than, well the 300C comes to mind.

Us cars might work in the us but they will never work in Europe, the sooner someone realizes that and stops trying to make cars that will appeal to Europeans the more money they will save. In this segment Europe offers the 5 series, E class and CLS class, A6, Citroen C6 (most comfortable ride you can imagine) and the Alfa Romeo 166 (oh and i guess the Masserati Quatrroporte). Given that choice there is no reason why anyone should be thinkibng about buying american.

We've had this discussion before, but MY GOD, America produces perhaps the ugliest, shittiest cars in the world.

When will they learn that bigger does not equal better?

Posted by Lemonad on Jan-09-2008 12:47:

The only bad thing about this car is being American made. They can't make squat work without it failing after a short while...

maybe the Americans should just invest more in Lockheed Martin and do what they do best at making, missiles!

Posted by Cipha Sounds on Jan-09-2008 12:49:

$60-75k for that? The only cadillacs I prefer are the old school ones from the 60s and a hooked up Escalade with 24s. For that kind of money, I'd buy one of the new 5 series BMW, engine is guaranteed to last a lot longer and is way better looking than that new CTS. You can't fuck with german engineering.

Posted by THE_Chris on Jan-09-2008 13:04:

Looks like a Transformer from the front

Posted by hooknife on Jan-09-2008 13:17:

Why would you buy a Cadillac when you could own a car that will out proform all most any Ferrari and it's cheaper than a 911.

The car will not be sold until 2009.

This thing is a monster!

Estimated Base Price: 100k
625bhp
625lb-ft

0-to-60 - 3.5 sec
1/4 mile - 11 sec

I can think of three reasons:

1. It will handle like complete shit.

2. It's ugly as a hat full of arse holes.

3. It's American, which means the interior will be rubbish, the engine will be noiser than the apocalypse, the fuel economy will be atrocious etc. etc.

I have a strong dislike of american cars, but even so i have some isues with those points you made.

1. While having no experience in the Z06 which everybody says handles brilliantly i have some in the C6 and that actually handles rather nicely. However while the Z06 does very well on the track its supposedly horrid to drive on normal roads. While i have no doubts that the ZR1 will be brilliant on the track i don't imagine the ride quality will be that good. And here is where the Europeans come in. The reason why a Ferrari is twice the price of a vette is because its brilliant on the track and on the road. You can burn tires all day on the track and still cont that it will take the bumps on public road on the way home quite nicely. Until it breaks down of course, but thats italians for you.

Of course there is always Porsche, who make some of the most reliable cars in the world. Not just sports cars but cars in general. Seriously, the only time a Porsche needs a mechanic is when the owner crashes it, otherwise they run forever.
