mansion in miami is gorgeous inside because it used to be an an art deco theater, not an industrial warehouse. hopefully they'll keep the tables off the dance floor up here...

even though the signs seem to be pointing to mansion being a version of pink elephant on steroids, there's always hope that things can turn around. when it first opened, crobar was an uber-trendy scenester spot and didn't start booking the big lineups (and attracting the more egalitarian b&t crowds) until almost a year into its operation.

I was always into Roxy and Spirit. Had some of my best times there. I wasn't into crobar all that much until roxy and spirit really died down... it started to grow on me after a while.

Man, who remembers the UFO colorful lights coming down where you can almost touch them. With the fog and the lights, i was going fucking nuts with those.

You remember when they had those little hanging lights, like the fire alarm bright tiny lights that go off all at different times?! WOW... Someone needs to find a video of that... agh....

RIP... too many good times had in Crobar... With Bob Sinclar doing opening night, don't think I'll take Mansion seriously..

I like the tables on the dance floor as long as there is there a big dance floor as well like in Miami. The tables in the middle add to the vibe. I dunno maybe it was just the night I went but the people with bottle service were going pretty nuts, everyone was dancing and tons of girls dancing on the tables/platforms. I dunno I like how it breaks things up...

omg those pics bring back such awesome memories!!

I looooved crobar!! NEVER had a bad experience there (I loved roxy too.....spirit: meh)

many others found their party lives at palladium/hudson st?/limelight/arc/tunnel/spirit/etc.

older people can bitch all they want about what was better. a lot of us found found our night life at crobar. residencies with Sasha, Ferry, and Sander is where some of us "grew up."

we knew we could go to Crobar any weekend and see a good EDM DJ whether or not we'd heard about them before. It was consistent. It was where we could seen about people we had never hear before: Victor Calderone, Roger Sanches, Chus & Ceballos, Eric Morillo, Bad Boy Bill, ...

- Crobar is where i met most NYTAs
- it was fabulous. it great when the allowed smoking in the back - you could meet and chat with people
- it was a big dance floor, where you could lose yourself (as Bree always reminds me to do) and not worry about outside stresses

the one big drawback was that there was no where to sit
- in the earlier day you could talk your way upstairs or to the VIP section
- I don't mind a VIP section - sometimes the NY Rangers (or Diddy; isn't he welcome?) need a place to chill and enjoy a good party

all in all, Crobar was a great club
and now it is gone
celebrate what it brought
and live past what's gone

i though it was you i saw walking the other day by nathans with the bearded lady

as for this place i dunno who enjoys tables on the middle of the dance floor when theres a good dj
i sure as hell dont i would rather be among the clubbers
sure there will be idiots,crackheads,gweedos
but i could never see myself sitting down during a tiesto set
if mansion feels thats the way they want to run their business
then let them i honestly think they will do good
theres alot of money to be made and alot of people are doing bottles these days
its just not for me

+1 Sidmi!!!

Everything you said is so true When I came from Toronto, I had such high expectations of NYC. I had never really partied here except for the Roxy, so I thought NYC would be a GREAT place to party.

I was pretty dissapointed when the first club I went to was spirit. I was like: "Oh shit this is NOT going to work for me." lol I wasnt able to see arc/twilo because I was still up north when they were open, but Crobar kinda filled the void of the "big club feel" that I was missing since leaving the Guvernment/Docks/etc. It had big shoes to fill, but I loved Crobar. The staff was great, I never had problems at the door, no bathroom issues, strong drinks, great DJ's, room to dance, and decent enough people that I felt like I could go back every weekend.

Its weird, because when corbar was open, half the people were bitching about it, and now the same people are wishing it back.

awww how cute-- everyone, all of a sudden, now misses it!
