Actually you could probably ride a scooter 9 months of the year. March until November.

Bike is not an option. I need something to get my a round faster.

ok - another thing, you won't be able to drive long distances on a scooter so you'll still rely on go/TTC/other people to get to places further away

He doesn't use a car now, so clearly this is not a large issue.

While I like being driven around, my habit of taking taxi's everywhere is really starting to get out of control and eating too much of my $$$

clearly it is an issue...

Umm.. do you know how much it would cost to take a taxi long distance, lol? I HIGHLY doubt he uses taxis for that. He meant in the downtown core.

on a serious note... having your feet in the middle is so unnatural and takes away from the maneuverability and comfort, id go for a motorcycle. crotch rocket FTW

try a used scooter for a bit and then if it suits you keep it or upgrade to a car.

push bike. It's cheapest, great for your heart, and environmentally friendly!

lol wow a work out and a half
how long did that take??

Posted by Stilez on Jan-31-2008 21:14:

anywhere the TTC goes... he can go on a scooter + more.

Hate to point out the obvious...but it's usually the suburbanites that push for cars. Where they live and what they use it for makes sense. If you're in the core (living and working) you're better off with something that will get you to point A -> B and sometimes C, with as little effort and cost as possible.

If he has to go somewhere just outside the city or beyond, why not just rent a car... much cheaper and without the insurance, maintenance stresses.

except for southern states like CA, NV, FL, TX, etc. motorcycles are great down there.

It's not about the weather but about safety. In my opinion, although the majority of people on the road aren't a-holes, there are enough oblivious drivers with wide open spaces to drive in North America (southern states included) that can make it potentially dangerous for a biker. No point in having a bike if you don't push the acceleration (within reasonable speed limits of course) and in the short burst of speed, accidents happen because oblivious people don't see 'em coming.

That's the only reason preventing me from getting a bike here.

well actually you can.

depending on the scooter you could get anywhere from 60-90 kms a litre of gas. As well with something 125-300 cc you could get a top speed of 100-150kms an hour. I just wouldn't want to go long distances on a scooter.. or a motorcycle for that matter. Long drives i need a car. i want to be comfortable and recline

car is a waste of money
i've spent already a serious amount to get it fixed, if you get a car get a brand new one, worth it.
