I remember one time for Eric Entrena I was inside, and everytime i went outside for a smoke I saw this huge line that they wasnt moving because the venue was supposedly at 'capacity'.... even until like 3am, a bunch of my friends didnt even end up getting in.... and honestly inside there was still a good amount of room especially towards the back

I didnt understand why they were being so strict about it

well maybe "capacity" means not rammed like sardines in a cane, but with actual dancing space and air to breathe?

my apologies for that sounding like jibberish

My plan was to go to Footwork as well (because of TIL's cancellation) until I heard about The Gallery switching music formats on the 23rd. I've been on a tight budget recently so I decided that I'd rather go to one of the last house events in The Gallery instead of Footwork.

It was cancelled and re-scheduled (feb. 29th) by 4PM which gave clubbers (who paid enough attention) to make other plans and what not.

Better than arriving at 11pm and finding out then.

nice
I might make it out to TiL then
i'll keep you posted

deep dish at TiL tought me a valuable lesson. Go to clubs early, its much nicer to be inside sipping on a drink than waiting in line outside. jamming > fashionably late

Yeah I agree, but I am just saying they could have easily let the 30 people in that had been waiting in the cold for like 3 hours and there would still be actual dancing space an air to breathe....

and risk getting shut down if a cop or the fire marshal happens to drop by and sees that the place is over the capacity?

hmmmm......

+1 on Yohan's comment
and also - you let 30 ppl in, what about the rest? where to draw the mark?

Posted by MarkT on Feb-03-2008 02:03:

you draw the mark at letting people in who've been in line for an hour...not the turds walking up and bribing the door staff

acutally I think this was the deal that night, cuz my friend in line asked the security guard and he mentioned something about fire regulations....

I just find that whenever i am standing in a line greater than 10 people at FW the line just doesnt seem to move..... and it definitely gets annoying when you know there is more than enough room for you inside

whatever though, i guess rules are rules, some people follow them, others dont

Footwork's intentions are not to make people wait. Their intentions are to follow the rules to ensure that people are safe. If they are overcapacity, the party can be stopped and everyone loses.

The maximum occupancy level is based on a formula, not simply on how many people the can fit in the club at once.

It's too bad that not everyone was able to make it in.

hmmm, i tried to go to this as well...arrived around 12:15 and waited in line until 1:15...then gave up.

i've never had to wait more than 10 minutes at footwork for anything, i was quite surprised and bummed out...i thought they were just artifically holding the line until 1 when the cover goes up, but when 1 rolled around no movement at all...in fact the line only moved a few people in an hour.

i hope it was actually busy inside because i hate artificial lines.

Posted by Fin Finnegan on Feb-03-2008 10:59:

Footwork does not artificially hold the line. Please understand this.

one word for the night...AMAZING. My first time at Footwork, it seemed pretty packed. Great atmosphere, everyone was loving the choons. Kaskade is an incredible DJ.

I respect Footwork for abiding to the rules and keeping in mind the patrons safety, unlike other places that pack people way over capacity. There are fire codes in place so if by chance there was something to happen, the likelihood of everyone getting out alive is a possibility.

BTW the music was great, I danced none stop from beginning to end and yes it was packed inside.
