TA without drama is like a hot dog without mustard....it would lack real flavour.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Feb-03-2008 16:50:

Real drama is better than fake PLUR anyways.

Same here

What a person will fight for is important. If someone challenges my arguments in a constructive way, making me think of a topic in a new light, I would be interested in meeting him/her.

But.

If a person is too narrow minded to hold basic conversation, I would care less to meet.

Im interested in meeting most anyone at least once (especially those who are passionate). Even the dullards who seem narrow minded. You never know what you may learn. Best case...you reafirm your beliefs/values/ideals.
Best case...you reasses and as a result reposition and strengthen your new beliefs/values/ideals

Worst case....you gain nothing because you fail to acknowledge that you have anything else to gain.

The only bad thing TA has done to me is made me hate trance

Posted by StereoPrincess on Feb-03-2008 20:27:

i find the TA community to be very very interesting.

i have been a very active member on this site for many years now. (OMG, 6 and a half years, jeeezuz!). believe it or not there was a time that it was possible to know EVERYONE that posted here in TOTA. and we actually made it a point to meet everyone.

now there are so many people that it would be very difficult (impossible) to know everyone and actually give them the time of day it takes to actually get to know them and judge their character in person (which was what we used to do). now you make judgements based on posts and based on who they associate with on the site. not only that but posts have to stand out to even remember the name.

it's also funny how people join the group in different ways. it really is great obersevational experiment.

This is something I dont understand.....How can you make judgements on someone who you have never met and simply just by looking at their posts you judge them.....For me when I post on TOTA or COR depending on the topic on hand at that time....My seriousness varies....Plus Im hardly serious here as well 95% of the time when post its just for fun and killing time.....(Im on TA literally @ work and home)It helps pass time for me.

People that know me on TA and those who I usually talk with on msn on a regular basis will tell you Im tottaly different from my online personality.

On the other hand yes we do see some people who go way out of hand on a regular basis to start drama or annoy everyone unless you're talking about those......

The more you get to know the people posting on TA in real life, the more *you* your posts become. When you're new and don't know anyone, what you seem like on the forums and what you're like in real life differs significantly.

Then again it differs on the person too. Regardless of whatever verbal tussles I get into on the forums, I made myself a strict rule to never bring that beef into the clubs.

oh, lol. i think you misunderstood my point.

i don't mean that you have to be serious and watch what you say and only contribute to serious discussion just to impress everyone at all time. fuck, half the time i am posting is just to make my self laugh, lol.

you can deny judging people based on there posts because this is internet, blah blah blah. but what other option do we have? there is like 600 people here (or more) if i were to meet everyone everynight, all i can go by is what i read because that's where i would spend most of my time seeing what they have to say. when i go to a club, i talk to over 200 people, do you really think that i can make a better judgement based on a hello and name introduction in a loud club? you might as well face it, everyone here judges you. lol. but don't worry dude, you're cool.

i agree with this.

but recently there has been a phenomenon of people joining in groups and therefore they automatically have to be themselves because all their friends joined at the same time and they just chat on here.

in the past, everyone joined on their own and had to figure out the system. now when you join in groups they almost skip the system because they always have the backup in real life. (i dunno if that makes any sense)

I'm glad I snuck in under the bar and had a chance to meet you and a whole bunch others. Well said, and I agree completely.
