I love all the old trance too, but, I think alot of the trance coming out now-a-days is great, and I have never heard such quality as the tracks and cd's coming out as of late. I don't know what some of you haters are talking about........

did you even take the time to read the article rubez? he mentions off beat basslines and talks about his style and the style associated with most discover artists.. people like YOU make me remember why there was a need for APN. Educate yourself a bit and make a proper arguement.

they have "perfected" it, and it sounds "great" (sounds horrid to me) but in the process it has lost the magic. really stale. too much polish and sheen basically.
a bit more gritty and raw please!

For me the quality and clarity make the experience much better. I smoke a bone, throw on Sander, Armin, Tiesto, Markus, anything great that has been coming out as of late, and I just let the electro's flow through every vein, and I love it, and I still get lost in it, just as I did 10 years ago. Only now it sounds better in most cases. And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they sounded bad back in the day, I just really love what is coming out now too. Just my 2 cents

reading manuals is essencial to be able to work creatively!
first you must know how your gear works. after that, you can decide what to do with it !
learning by doing generally is a good approach but when you work with music and you literally have every possibility in the world, it�s good to be limited.
learn the rules so you know how to break them
Q: You have had quite a rapid rise to the top, what were your big breaks and what advice can you give to bedroom producers looking to make the breakthrough?

notice he dingyed the question about his big breaks and reason for rapid rise "to the top" -
he entered an amateur remix competition (punked) and won even though he already had a record out.. and then shamelessly desecrated evey classic under the sun for maximum exposure.
There's nothing abnormal about the above question(s) that were put to Tyas and I don't think he 'dodged' any of the questions put to him. If someone asks me a series of questions in one swift sentence, it's normally the last question that I'll focus on and I'll be inclined to answer it first.
Nothing really strange about that.
I started listening to trance in '98 and have loved every so-called evolution that's taken place within the scene. If anything, the period I disliked the most was from 2003-2005. There were gems back then and there are gems now that will be defined as classics when this era has passed. Your average producer is technically better than they used to be because the advance in technology and use of computer software have become more and more popular outlets for creating music. Producing has become more easily accessible to most now, and with the upturn in people creating in digital formats, the competition is fierce nowadays with very little to choose between artists now.
You have to read manuals. Imitate to innovate as they now say. If every producer started from scratch and didn't read a single article on production, they may be more creative, but the innovation would be lost in a muddy production.

I�ve noticed it myself. When I started producing back before I studied sound engineering, I tended to say I "learn by doing". But nevertheless, the results were somewhat...well..bad...
Then after I learned everything and developed an understanding for how music works and how synthesizers work, I was able to produce the music I wanted to produce.
Nevertheless, you can�t make yourself a good producer by reading. Experience is the most important thing.
But in the end, everything you do is limited by what you know. And if you know your equipment very well you will be able to tell how to make the most out of it...

along with what you guys have mentioned.. isnt it odd that rubez would even be on a production forum! wouldnt that too hamper creativity by asking questions and having them answered by people that read the manuals! hahaha

the reason you see very few "regulars" even bothering to post in this thread is because we've already realised rubez is a complete and utter moron. there is no point in trying to argue with a retard - he is obviously incapable of critical thought.
rubez is the biggest joke this forum has ever seen, perhaps other than lordofbass. lordofbass at least had some style and character, so i would say rubez is far more deserving of a darwin award.
take a look at this thread, then just feel sorry for the guy and ignore him.
