I just think a randomly timed surprise Valentine's Day (not when the rest of the world are celebrating it - which isn't really original now is it?) could be amazing.

Anyways, for you romantics here's a pretty cool event worth checking out... http://www.newmindspace.com/queenofhearts08.php

V-day is really an excuse to spend money on each other. I'd love to spend the weekend in a luxe montreal hotel room all the time but that's not really feasible, is it?

I plan on going to this. Ive seen the trailers for this straight to dvd release and it looks amazing. Dont believe me. Take a look here.

We're doing valentine's day and our anniversary all in one because they're so close to each other (14th and 18th), so it'll be celebrated over the weekend.
No idea what we're doing this year though. Tbh, I was never really big on the celebration so... we'll see.

You can pick any day(s) of the year to be your V-day. Who says it has to be feb 14th every year?*

So one day/night you say to your partner, "hey Mar 27th is our V-day this year. Let's book a hotel, dinner, show, etc and do something special. How's that sound?"

How about special little anniversary days, like the day you first met, the first date, etc. How about re-living it right down to the same place you ate, what you wore (if you still have it and it fits), play the same music you listened that time in the car, where you went, etc?

Now those days have significance to you, which makes it unique and special. Even more special if he/she remembers right (and you happened to forget)?

*of course if you hooked up on feb 14th that's different

(Rach glad to hear it. You guys are cute!)

For the 23rd yr in a row I am going to celebrate being single

Posted by FunkyCrew on Feb-05-2008 17:32:

honestly, what's the point of NOT celebrating it
those who by principal don't want to, can go ahead and have a regular day

no point in trying to convince everyone that they shouldn't be celebrating 14th at all or choosing another day to do that, for that matter

I'm not trying to convince anybody of anything. Just offering a different perspective. I think some people get where I'm coming from. Romance doesn't need to be forced/limited to a specific date in the calendar year that's all

A little bit of love more frequently goes a lot further than the usual V-day thing. Steven Covey would refer to it as "making regular deposits in the emotional bank account".

*high five*

Valentines Day... another holiday turned useless by commercialism, just like Christmas

how romantic is doing something that you feel obligated to do, because commercialism dictates that you do it?

PS: *high five to anf*
