my thoughts on software piracy:

a) if your just gonna play with it... or use it to learn a few things, sure.. go ahead and download it from whereever. if you feel it contributed to you, IE you learned something from it, or your made something usefull with it... buy it!

b) if your a PRO and your gonna make money.. dont even consider being a cheapskate and pirating something

using something to play with, is one thing... getting serious benefit from someone else's work should dictate you need to contribute back to them. common fair play in effect.

just my 2 cents ...

Releasing tracks with pirated software:

they wont know, and they wont care

The question is if they won't know.
Does anyone of you
know if there is an
invisble waterprint containing the serial number or something like that ?

Could it be that the wav - header is including information about the
software you used and so that they can find out if you got audiowarez?

That 's why I prefer buying original software although it's fucking expensive sometimes...

There is no "imprint" in your wav track if you use downloaded software.. How do you use software you download? Usually a serial #. Therefor the program assumes you have purchased it legally. It doesnt display the serial # anyways. if it did, people would know about it, and just resave the wav file in some free program like sound recorder. then any additional info attached to the wav should be changed.

My opinion:

Download to test a program. there is no point buying a program for $600 and finding out its not right for you.

Buy the program if your going to be using it alot.

Now can you release a track? Obviously, most record lables shouldnt care. Its not like there going to come to your house and search through your computer looking for copied stuff anyways. Now if you become a big name Producer, obviously you are gonna want to buy all your software, and generally should have money to do so.

Record companies don't give a damn with what you created your song.
All they care about is how to rip off people to make more cash themselves, well the most of them. There is maybe 5% that cares about the music. That guy is just telling tales of the big bad wolf and that chick with the red hat(don't know how they call her in english).
Producing music for Britney Spears now that's what i call a crime, you earn shitloads of money though but it's still ripping money of little kids with shitty music.

I'm not saying you should use warezed soft you should defenately support good products.
If you earn money with the software or you have too much cash support the stuff that you think is useful.
