Originally posted by llavoe I agree that there were not that many quality standout tracks in this set. All-in-all it was an average set. Mansion's sound system and equipment sucks. You can hear the poor quality in the effects and transitions of Markus' set. A lot of choppy mixes and the delay timings. Markus is a very good mixer esp in performances and I am not saying it's his fault at all. I am pointing the finger @ Mansion's setup.

Originally posted by llavoe I was referring to the sound system. The choppy mixes could come from wires, amps, etc. A CDJ 1000 itself does not really affect that Also a djm 800 is econo-standard. It's Mansion... Get a better setup than that. That looks like a really lame setup for such a big place.
Best Markus set i have heard in the past couple of years. I really liked it !!

Originally posted by JD8180 well i'm sure everything was recorded straight from the mixer... so the sound system should have nothing at all to do with it. and the wiring wouldn't affect it either because if he was recording from his laptop, then that's just like 3 feet of wire which would make no difference.

Originally posted by llavoe I am not talking about the quality of the mix that was aired. You're missing my point. As a whole, Mansion's system is not good. It never has been. It's not what is recording or what he's mixing. It is the fact that they do not have good enough gear for such a big place. They need to fix it. When I talk about wires, I mean the ones going from the mixer to amps and speakers, not to a laptop. There is a major delay in the room from monitor-master. his mixes are choppy because it is hard to accomplish a spot-on transition in Mansion.
I don't argue, I discuss
I am not taking anything away from that night. I am stressing that Markus and every other big DJ should get better conditions for such a big room.
Will you 2 stfu and enjoy the set !!

Maryliz sent me a part of the pictures taken that night.
Soon I will get the other ones.
Attached a couple of pictures:

when was the last time you went? its no space sound system of course but it sounds a lot better than in recent years when i was there in october. and i have no idea why you think the hosted set has anything to do with the sound system inside space. by that standard, i must have an amazing sound system b/c my sets are clear as hell lol.

Originally posted by llavoe I was at this show. I am talking about the SQ being a patron in Mansion. I refer to the quality of transitions in the mix for REFERENCE to being at Mansion. For the minimal beepy-boppy one sound a measure stuff you listen to Diego, you won't hear that kind of thing in those sets. Sasha did not have anything maxed out at all in Oct. He plays at a much slower Tempo than Markus. There wasn't enough Volume that night if you ask me. Also Sasha's tracks are all lined up in Live, so of course it is not going to sound choppy. But when you get a DJ like Markus who uses three CDJ's, plays faster progressive/trance at a faster tempo, you will hear them make transitions they do not normally make on a regular basis. I am arguing in favor of everyone being able to get what they pay for in terms of sound, and that's all. Who's talking about Space? I wasn't...

Originally posted by llavoe Why would I go to all the trouble of talking about Mansion's Sound System if I had not been there my fair share to hear it? Now finally after hearing a recording from the place, I am convinced that they need to fix it badly. With the WMC coming up, and people paying almost $100 to hear Tiesto or Sasha and Digweed, it really isn't fair to the performer or the listener to have to put up with that nonsense. IMO the GDJBWT here in Miami was nothing compared to the previous 3 he aired (Argentina, BC, and China) Track selection was dull, sound was not good, and I expected that because WMC is too close to be playing anything mind-stopping. The sound System that MS will use in March (which is a smaller venue, with more sound than Mansion) will sound way more crisp. Hopefully March will be really good, and if you go, you'll think of this thread and be like "Hmmmm that smart-ass on TA was right... These two shows are completely different"

But he played a set that did what it was supposed to do, kept the crowd dancing. |
I guess I am bent out of shape about this night because I expected so much more than what it was. To drive 4 hours, party, then to drive 4 hours back; and work immediately following this is what got me on my rant. I do expect a great, fresh set from Markus when he comes here, who doesn't?
Markus used to be here so much, and I miss those good underground sets I used to attend.
Highlight Track for me was his mix of "rush" That really was a great interpretation of that track.
