I'm trying to sound sexy and seriously, I sound so young. I even lisp a bit. This is a joke.

  1. Where in Denmark are you from?
  2. Do you "bite" your lower lip when you say "v"?
  3. Could you please post a sample of your "w"?

I would record something but I dunno what to say really lol.

I know I miss out the 't's on bottle and so on. But really I change depending on who I'm speaking to and so on.

Me too... I think Glass can confirm that

Anyway, here's what you should say:

"Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol and dental insurance. Choose fixed-interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked-upbrats you have spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life. But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life: I chose something else. And thereasons? There are no reasons."

Not really. If we all picked one common text, we wouldn't be able to get all the diversity here.

It would be better if all of us told a short story about ourselves

lol well I recorded

I am from midjylland or jutland, between Herning and Viborg.

I don't bite my lower lip but my teeth contact my lower lip when I say v and also sometimes when I'm lazy on the w. I guess that's what makes my w sound like v, isn't it? I never thought about that before.

Do you really want a sample?

Someone should write something long for each of us to read, record, and upload. So we can listen to each other. That would be cool, maybe.

edit: I just now am reading Lira's post above...lol way above...I think I sat on this reply window for a long time...

Well at point I slip in to a real Wick accent (not my normal one to be honest) and on 'cars' it's defo a ewan macgregor impression... but there you go.

>link -also got a cough-<

Trying not to laugh through most of it and actually having issues reading at points.

Probably, yes. This contact between your teeth and your lower lip are one of the characteristics of a "v" sound (there's more to it though).

Actually, this kind of thread reminds me that I should get back to working on that accent database I proposed. There are lots of volunteers, and I've already contacted Swamper for hosting information, and... well, I'm going to work on that next week

i learned english and spanish at the same time.. maybe that is why? even though i did not really use it untill i was 15 or something when i moved to the US.

Posted by Dervish on Feb-10-2008 02:04:

I'm gonna try putting on an american accent... has worked before lets see if I get you guys... brb

EDIT: Actually likely could be overheard and sound like (more of) a spastic.

ahh that makes sense though. because you were trained in both. makes you enunciate things differently than someone who was only trained in a single language as a kid.
