here is some reading on Tom COSM so you know what he is all about :

TOM COSM - written by the man himself!

Tom Cosm is a superstar electronic live act that has been taking the scene by storm ARGH! I just cant do it. pretending someone else is writing your profile just turns into a big wank-fest!. Dont you think its much more pleasant if I write this like we are actually talking to each other? We dont get the body language and expression, but its definitely a step up from learning about me from a third person perspective.

So, my names Tom, and I want to thank you for taking the time to get this far. A lot of people dont even make it past the first paragraph, but I am glad you have. The next step is to lock in for a few minutes and discover more about me, because if you stopped reading now the opinion youve already formed of me would leave a very general image in the back of your mind that would fester out of proportion, and that would be no good at all.

I am a live (seriously live) electronic act from New Zealand who produces and performs an all original live set, blending the genres of electro, minimal, trance and breaks into a unique sound which I am proud to call my own. Its quite a strange sound but Im pretty sure you will enjoy it if you give it a try, so I invite you to open my streaming music player in the background [ click here ], so you can listen to my latest tune real time as you read the rest of this biography. It would defiantly help you understand what I am about to say.

All good? Lets go

My music is catered towards the 2.0 generation of electronic dance music enthusiasts (and the clued up oldies!) who are seeking out more stimulation than the usual lets-cram-every-audio-frequency-down-your-throat routine. The appreciation of music and how it works on the brain is one of the most fascinating human passions, and with the advance of sound synthesis and design technology, we are not only able to start learning about why certain sounds and waveforms have such a dramatic effect on our lives, but recreate them in the studio to induce intense emotions and instinctual feelings, some of which we still re-discovering after they were lost when cultural evolution took over the way be run our lives.

I use machines that are at the absolute pinnacle of current technology, combined with mathematical algorithms, patterns, and logic, to generate virtual waveforms (little squiggly lines basically!). These leave my computer and get converted into electrical pulses that make speakers move the way they do. When my squiggly line goes down, the speaker gets pulled inwards, when the squiggly line goes up, it gets pushed out wards. Simple stuff.

As the speaker moves in and out, it pushes and sucks the tiny air particles which lay next to it. These disturbed particles vibrate the particles next to them, which in turn vibrate the particles next to them (and so on), until the particles that are next to your eardrum catch up and vibrate as well. Your ear drum then moves along with the rapid pushing and sucking, and sends this information through a complex sensory system that converts the vibrations to energy (by resonating particular fibres of different lengths that are inside your ear). This energy is then fired down the cochlear nerve into the cerebral cortex, which then sets of a chain of amazing reactions. This creates a very strong and clear communication link between my thoughts and yours, and that is something that should remain as sterile and pure as possible.

My music is a creative process that is available to anyone at any time, for free. It is very important to me that people understand where I am coming from when they listen to my music, and I dont want anything mucking up this direct link we have already established. Just like this profile, I want it to come straight from my brain, to yours.

I make almost all of my music available for free in high quality format, and sometimes not just the final tune, but the entire working live set so that others can take what I have done, create their own remix and learn from it. This is my main form of promotion. No record labels, no managers, no albums just free music and performing at events.. I believe this word-of-mouth approach can be much stronger than any marketing or promotion I would get if I was to sign to a label and sell my music.

How are you going? Still there? Good, were nearly done I just want to point out to you what makes my live performance unique, and why you should team up as many people as you can to get me to your town.

When I am booked to play a party, I perform all original music live. When I say live, I mean live. Ive been around a bit now, and have seen quite a few live acts that do nothing but push play on their laptop and pretend to tweak knobs. Thats fine the crowd can see this and hear the latest tunes, but as I said before, the next generation of party people are starting to notice, and there is no bullshitting you guys!

My performance is true live. I use machines and synthesizers to create and layer my music right there, in front of the dance floor, and I make sure that people know I am live. When I turn a knob, things happen.. When I hit buttons, people hear new sounds.. when people start smiling, I keep doing what Im doing

I created, programmed and customised my own unique way of performing because I became frustrated with the limits of most software and hardware made for live electronic musicians, so I used my knowledge of programming to make my own (I am a geek, remember?).

I have set my canvas up in a way that I can manipulate specific key elements of my music real time on the spot. I can change my set, my tune, my melody very easily and smoothly whenever I think it is right.

To me, this is the future of electronic music. A regular DJ or fake live act is so heavily restricted because they are playing tunes that have already been finished in the studiothey can not change the music, where as a true live electronic musician can change the music any way, allowing the symbiotic communication between the dancefloor and the performer to be extremely fluent, which often results in something pretty special.

Outside of music I enjoy juggling, designing, programming, reading, drinking wine and watching Christian television.

So! There you go, thats meI hope you agree with me that it is much nicer to read about someone as if they are talking to you, it adds an extra element of respect which is so important when making decisions about who you open up to, and who you recommend to your friends.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, This is how I work, and because you have read all of this with an open mind, It must be how you work too!

Cheers!

-Tom

MOJO

Mojo started his DJ career in 1997, playing party faves for a few hundred people each weekend.

What started out as a means to entertain, quickly became an obsession to put on a show. Mojo embarked on a mission to make his sound as unique as possible.
I don't have a genre, just a sound and an intense style of mixing. If it sounds good, I play it
Combining elements of Tribal, Progressive, Techno and Trance, Mojo has developed a sound he likes to call "CHUNKEE", a tough jackin' sound that is relentless, with multiple layers of FX and samples.

Mojo's sound has seen him play various clubs around Australia, everything from House to Trance.

Mojo was a fan favourite around the Sydney club scene for 8 years prior to moving to Melbourne, where he played at such clubs as Home, Gas, Candys Apartment, the Ice Box, Chinese Laundry, The World Bar, SugarReef and Temple just to name a few.

Mojo first wowed the Melbourne scene with his amazing technical ability and quirky effects in December of 2006, where he played a 6 hour set. Much to the crowds delight, Mojo was later booked for Interviews 1st Birthday, alongside Germanys Martin Roth.

In 2007, Mojo found himself being billed alongside some of the biggest names in the industry, such as Paul Van Dyk, Sean Tyas, Cosmic Gate and John 00 Fleming.

Mojos influences consist of Marco V, Sander Van Doorn, Mashtronic, Sander Kleinenberg, Steve Lawler, Danny Tenaglia, John Digweed, Sasha, Steve Angello, Ferry Corsten and Scott Bateman.

With Dj'ing being his soul purpose in life, Mojo expanded his means to entertain and teach, by opening a Dj store called DJ Warehouse, located in Melbournes inner city.

With the latest in technology at his fingertips, it is always a constant surprise what he will bring to the booth.

Mini table tennis FTW also. Funny shit!!

Those speakers are unbelievable for the price you scored them for man. It's waaaaaaay more fun mixing at yours now!

That mix has got a wicked flow to it + the tunes are bangin without serious agression. The mixing is tight as fuck and is possibly the best mix I've heard you come up with man. FUCKING AWESOME MAD SHIT
