or maybe you're not saying it should be censored by the gov't, and the news companies should refrain from reporting these events to stop copycat attacks... i highly doubt the copycats of such events have some revelation and become psychos when they read this kind of news... if it wasn't there they'd just find another violent way to be infamous attention whores. a lot of social forces are at work to create one of these individuals, but i don't think it's possible that the news is a major contributor. i don't think it's their responsibility to protect us by withholding certain information anyway.

So sad but this is not surprising at all. Happens all the time in the US lucky we dont have guns everywhere in Australia.

Right. You guys are too preoccupied with civil war and genocide.

Good thing your schools are safe.

Don't speak on shit, you know absolutely nothing about!

I agree... id rather be stocking fruit on the sidewalk in Toronto or be leaving a strip joint on yonge st instead of going to school in the USA any day of the week!!

if someone wants to get a gun, there's always someone willing to sell one, anywhere in the world.

Yes, but using that logic to arrive at the conclusion that we should therefore make obtaining guns easy as possible (since those who want them will get them anyway) is stupid. Even if I can potentially get a gun if I really really wanted to, doesn't mean the government shouldn't try to make it nearly impossible for me to do so.

I may not have ever lived in a 'hood (although from what I see, people who live in the projects and have easy access to guns aren't the ones shooting up schools), but if wanted to get a gun right now, I'd have no idea where to even start. Do I ask my friends? That'll seem a little suspicious and awkward. Do I post a note on Facebook? Make a thread on TA? Google it? Drive to Scarberia and start asking random strangers? In other words, the difficulty of obtaining one is likely to force me to seek other methods of releasing anger. Like poetry. Or Guitar Hero.

On the other hand, if I was angsty and knew where the local gunshop was, the method of obtaining a gun would be pretty clear. If my dad already bought a gun from that gunshop, the method of obtaining a gun would be even more obvious.

So yeah, gun control DOES matter. Especially when we're talking about middle-class social rejects who feel that living in middle-class America is the hardest thing in the world.

Fine, it can be geographically distinctive to some countries, but are we not the same fucking human race? Is this not one of "our" issues as a civilisation?

Ok fine if u put it that way i can kinda agree.
As long as you feel that way about ALL problems that we have in OUR world, then yes.

But you can't expect ppl in Europe or Asia to concern themselves with school shootings
when they almost exclusively happen in the US.

No homeland has an unblemished history.

Of course not and i'm not saying anything about being unblemished...
There are extremely good and bad ppl in every country in the world.
...but a completely different scenario, nothing like a random kid walking into a school
and killing as many ppl as possible and then himself.

War and random mass murders are completely different

Thats just ignorant so i don't blame you for your comments.

Fyi there was no civil war, but a war between 2 countries.
Croatians don't war with Croatians and never have in 1400 yrs.
For that matter, Serbs don't war with Serbs and never have either.
