Jesus Christ - it isn't as if he's whining because he didn't know what he was getting into. It's a rough situation that a lot of kids are in who didn't necessarily know they were going to be shipped off to such a shit war when they enlisted.

Agreed, the military/going to combat is voluntary, but it's also (in my opinion) one of the most selfless acts possible. And I think everyone's entitled to bitch about stuff that sucks - I just didn't think you could compare having a cheating spouse to being in combat, or to being a nurse. Everything's got different levels of blowing.

C'mon, the guy's getting shot at - even if he did volunteer for it, he's just looking for some support.

He briefly mentioned that he couldn't sleep. And I thought I was an asshole because I was about to make an IED joke but refrained

I just think it's ultra shit to say "Fuck off, you deserve what you got" when in reality whether or not you agree with the war they're involved in has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that they're over there.

You really think every footsolider in Iraq is there saying "America, fuck yeah - this war is awesome!"?

That isn't what I said, nor why I said it, lol.

S'cuse me for not feigning sympathy for the guy when I really don't feel any. Everything is relative, and to me his situation isn't as bad as many others have it. He sounds like a whiner to me.

All I read was "I don't support it" - so yeah, wrong context - but meh, whatever. It's still fucking ridiculous that anyone would react in the manner people are in this thread.

I respect the hell out of you for being there. Try your best to not let shit get you down. Whether your on the front lines or working behind the scene, every job is important over there. Try not to become overwhelmed with everything. Focus on one day at a time. Cause thats all that matters, cause it's all you can control. As for your ex leaving you, look at it as though you don't have to waste anymore of your life with someone who's not 100% invested and whoever is meant for you is out there. Cause she wasn't it. Just keep ya head up.. shit will get better. And for what it means, you have my support. Keep it up.. you'll be home soon.
