Ack! Actually, the hard drives are NOT easily replaceable in the Macbook Pro. In the Macbook (white/black), you pop the battery out and can get at it...

Replacing the drive in a Macbook Pro requires disassembling the ENTIRE machine (I'm not kidding, see the link below...) and will void your warranty.

Guide to replacing drive in macbook pro

Oh yeah, replacing the internal is a bitch. I was referring to just picking up a small ext. drive.

It's one of the "older" ones, hence the 2.4 GHz vs. the new 2.5 GHz models, but I doubt I'd notice any difference anyway, and I saved about 1300-1500$ on what it would have cost me for the new one. I confirmed that it had the upgraded 4GB of memory, too. After looking around quite a bit, I think I saved about 6-700$ over other computers with similar configurations. I was happy I called when I did, it was supposedly his last one.

So I got the 2.4 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 160 GB hard drive 17 in Macbook Pro.
I've got a couple of those SeaGate external hard drives with all of my music on it, and I figure if I want to use a song with Serato, I'll simply transfer it onto the Macbook prior to mixing.

Appreciate all of the info from everyone. Really looking forward to getting the computer and seeing how it works with my setup

Awesome! Congrats.

just picked up the new 2.4ghz macbook yesterday...$100 off the price due to me having a college student ID even though I havent been to school for over a year. lol.

anyways...I really must say wow. mind you ive used PCs for almost my entire life. im slowly getting a hang of the basics...so used to a right click. Eventually gonna pick up a mouse.

anyways...this little thing is fast...13.3inch screen is nice as well. had a bit of trouble getting my external hard drive to work on both my pc and mac, but got it and it has made things a whole lot easier transfering files.

big ups though. even though it cost a pretty penny...i look at it as an investment. and so far im very happy

Nice! Good to hear. Anxious to receive mine in the mail. Did you do any upgrades to the memory or anything? Are you planning on using it with Serato or Ableton or anything?

just using it for torq right now. possibly ableton within the next few months. i liked the lite version and kinda want to dive deeper into it.

on the previous mode, i was going up to the ram to at least 2 gigs, but it comes standard...and i believe a 160 gig hd. more than enough right now. i have a 250 gig external for backup and usage probably later on.

i did a quick torq session right now and it runs so smooth. im not used to a computer running this fast. lol.
