-- what has tiesto done to make you hate him?

when he started producing vocal pop tracks for 90% of his albums.

I dont 'hate him' but I dont like the music he plays. I will always respect him for Forbidden Paradise 3 - The quest for atlantis, and the early ISOS and magik musik including his live sets from 2000, but like many DJs they change and unforuntaly not everyone likes this. I guess the same could be said about Oakenfold, or maybe moby.

everyone in his genre

But do we like that genre?

u are 16 year old ...when u grow u will understand...
used to be a big fan of tiesto but the music he plays nowdays is 10* worst times than other djs(eg armin,ferry... and many more)

Tiesto pre-2002 >>> Eating Horsecock >>>> Tiesto post-2005

Haven't heard much of his 03 and 04 work

I don't hate him, I just don't give a shit about him since he played and plays music I don't enjoy very much. I gave a listen to his last album and was complete utter shit.

I don't hate him.
I just don't like him... and his latest sets and singles.

LEAVE TIESTO ALONE, HE'S A HUMAN!

Well for one he stole $35 from me, true story.

When hes banging it out in a big arena theres no one who can touch him and thats the truth.

Say what you like about him as a person, brand or anything. But when he stands and delivers the big power sound hes best at hes a phenomenal dj. Anyone who says otherwise has an unhealthy hate for Tiesto or simply do not like trance anymore or never did.

I think its understandable why there is a lot of hostility where he is concerned. But you need to stand back and realise that he is in fact great at what he does when he can be arsed.

It must be frustrating for folk who pay a huge amount of money to see him to play a powder puff set when he really should be playing like he did at Trance Energy last Saturday virtually all the time. That I can understand completely. Maybe ive just been lucky that only time ive seen him play poorly was at Cream in Ibiza.

you hit the nail rite on the head....

I was lucky to catch him back 2 back nites in Atlantic City. He played better for a crowd of 300 people the 1st nite then he did for a crowd of 3000 people the second nite. I was soooo bored with his set on the 2nd nite that I couldn't wait to leave.

Tiesto is the fucking reason I never say 'I listen to trance' even though I do, because when you say you listen to trance people think of shit like tiesto and avb.

I'll admit, ISOS 1 and 2 were good, and some of the stuff he did before this had some good tracklistings but I haven't listened, the main point is he's been shit since about 01/02

I'm becoming less motivated to care about what Tiesto is up to as well. Why?

Quite simply the DJ i was supporting c.2001-2 playing 6hr solo sets in clubs with a broad range of prog- tech- uplifting- trance has become obsessed with marketing and big room stadium gigs.

Thats partly the demand that lets him get away with it. But he could also wake up tomorrow and decide to go back to doing intimate venues again.

As PatmcGroin wrote on first page. 5 times a year he really kicks ass. The rest of the time is on auto-pilot playing tracklists that half resemble a hit parade, the other half a slap dash run through of recent "trancers" and a few "alternative tracks".

Club Life at face value is the same as the rest, but at least it has a second hour of interesting club music... the fact they choose to only podcast hour 1 (the uplifting vocal trance pap) proves the direction the Tiesto bandwagon is going in... and its one i'd rather jump off than head into some third-world-tour.

Trance Energy may have been an excellent showcase... but how can he translate that style to an 8 hour concert event? The truth is the big shows never work, they're just money spinners and hype mongers. If he would choose to balance his touring between festivals (playing trance energy/museumplein type sets) and some intimate venues (playing his wider style) then i would love it.

The issue is the rather large middle ground. Where for every 1 or 2 festival sets a year, and the 2-3 private afterparties, there are 125 tour events where Traffic and Adagio are belted out for the 200th time. Or the party has to fall under some kind of "brand".. EOL or ISOS, is there even a difference. Gone are the days where he's just turning up and playing music. Its all "set patterns" and "pyrotechnically correct" setlists... blabla.

Its not like he is not aware of it either. Did he dare play Adagio in holland last week?? No. So why do it everywhere else in the world then?? Grr its frustrating. And so many "older" fans who were there in the really good period 2001-2 have left him because of it.

Yeah, like when he plays a song, and then he plays another song right after it, and then when he jumps up and down while the pre-recorded song is playing...yeah, that's awesome. No one else can do that.

Metaphorically speaking, you are idolizing someone for their fucking air guitar skills. Grow a fucking brain.

Oh yeah how could I forget the 'he's a pirate!' remix, fucking appaling.

Posted by Alex on Feb-27-2008 17:31:

Seriously Laser, shut the fuck up.

They could have a pre-mixed CD playing at one of these "Tiesto in Concert" things, with big screens featuring Tiesto shitting on a glass table while his gf lies underneath watching, and everyone would STILL go and pay $100+ and then come and post on here about how it was the most memorable experience of their lives.

what's the contest?
