I've had a much needed reunion with this beauty for a while now. Just waiting for the right talent to come down to Hawaii.

Decided not to when Burridge came down, no fucking clue why.

idk about that one...classical, jazz, blues, (insert probably any musical genre here) are extremely emotional provoking music.

Ok silly comment... I was mainly refering to those rock elitists.

And mainly refering to the rock genre... or at least most genres of punk, alt, pop etc

Digging yourself a bigger hole buddy.

You telling me Jimi Hendrix wasn't feeling anything when he composed his songs? His songs are not capable of provoking emotions?

Even today's modern rock music is emotional to an extent. Sure a lot of mainstream bands play out the "my gf just dumped me so now I'm emo" lyrics, but even more bands create songs based on very personal experiences...

All music is based on personal experiences/reflections/mood.

Footage of a concert I went to last saturday (Minus The Bear). Fucking amazing. That with no doubt, was one of the many best moments in my life.

What about well umm this should make us some money or laid whatever. If so... then it'll probably not be as evocative as something made purely of expressions of motions.

Just like djs who do it to be cool probably won't be as good as those who like the music.

EDM music...my philosophy on its worldwide mass apeal is that 4/4 rhythm's connect the best to our sexual natures. We are attracted to a 4/4 rhythm because for the most part we have sex in a 4/4 rhythm. And the BPM of sex if you measured it would on average fall between 120 strokes per minute to 130 strokes per minute, which is why House music is the most sexual genre in EDM, the tempo relates closest to the tempo of our sexual nature.

The main reason why Rhythmic music (all genres) is so compelling versus non rhythmic is because it relates to the sexual natures of all kinds of people, and in most cases these days the image of sex is sold alongside the music to magnify its appeal even more.

For example I find when really tired you can listen to hypnotic downbeat music but can't enter into a state of trance.

Anyway I'm probably just another idiot not knowing what he's talking about.

Nonsense.

Also, I find that the "downvibe" moments are actually the least "trancey" for me.

Anyways, I've wondered what is it about constantly rhythmic 4/4 music that I/we love so much

This is only true of western music. Other cultures don't share this sentiment.

The reason for this being is because western music is based on the 8-tone scale (technically 12, but I'm just counting white keys or actual tones ie: do ray mee). Why 8 tones? Because when musical notation was invented only 8 fingers were used for playing instruments (the thumb was seen as unsightly and unclean, and people were instructed not to use it up until about the Baroque period--remember, music was primarily a upperclass activity in classical times).

But this was by no means standard. Classical arabian and chinese music use a 7-tone scale. Indonesian music has a 5-tone scale. When westerners listen to this stuff, they constantly remark how it sounds out of tune.

Anyways, it's a standard set in part by physical human limitations, and in part by stuffy, inane abstract ideas of what was considered proper and decent.

But even in classical times, most music was written in 2/2 or 3/4. The popularity of 4/4 didn't really arise until the 20th century and, accordingly, the accessibility and availability of music on a mass level.

No, that's 140-150.

the neonatal infant heart rate is that (130 -150), not the mother's. Ever notice that babies sometimes nuzzle their mother's chest without feeding to sleep? Its because the heart beat provides a nurturing feeling for them just like when they were in the womb. If her heart rate is 150 shes fucking jogging lol. Traditionally many forms of tribal music (real tribes not crap n ceballos shirtless car wash music) also tend to have roughly this rate for the precise same reason.

"OMG, the 4/4 rhtyhm of EDM make you connect with the goddess of the universe, the alpha waves are the key to higher dimensions and its soooo emotional, EDM the most emotional genre ever! (EDM and Emo i would add!)"

aahahh thanks for the laugh guys!

Why make a blanket statement, make a decent argument or shut up. Maybe when you lose it someday...in the next 20 years you will have an ephiphany and what I said will make sense to you.

many people have sex to music, but most of them dont know why music and sex mix well, so you wont find many "psychosexual musicologists" out there. But if you turn on your radio you will find the products created by "psychosexual musicologists" all day and night.
