...ps i saw a bit of satoshi that night (while armin PLayed anthem after sugary sweet shitness anthem).....in the side prog whore room...@ the time i didnt quite get it, packed full of old khuntz looking all glamour and shit...but looking back now...yeah it was a great man at his peak

glamour and shit? ha ha ha... I have different memories of that room/night. It was tiny, bloody hot, lots of sweaty bodies jammed into a room that was way too small, roof was almost touching my head and a bean bag burst so there was little bits of white beans everywhere. But my god, the music = hours + hours of prog bliss!! Fabulous night, I have very fond memories of it!

meh i had a listen, was a little sloppy and just poor song choice in the arrangement. personaly i like utah saints and most of the songs so it didnt really bother me.

after that set by j00f we were standing off the side chatting to him and stipsy asked him if he checked out the progressive room, i said i did and i thought it was crap, so small, hardly any people, why bother flying these international djs out to play in somewhere like that. and some guy called mark james was standing right next to me...

It's not about the size of the room Philby, it's about the quality of the music - and the best music was definitely in the prog room that night I remember it being pretty full in there actually - and i've got pretty similar memories to Sara about that room and the distinct lack of glamour - it was pretty hot and messy, i think there was even black plastic on the floor so we didn't ruin the carpet lol.

that was the godskitchen before when j00f played after ornadel (who was backed by renaissance and classed as a prog dj at the time)....that was one hell of a set that night...it was on abc's - god is a dj doco.

joof was at his peak at that time imo...when he was playing dave clarkes remix of god is a dj and shite

jolz -yep i got re-incarnated as another buddha last week.

sara - once prog was kewl and it was glamour and it looked like elektro house and i was underage so it looked like even more glamour to me lol

Posted by stipsy on Mar-08-2008 13:27:

wrong..he played the astral projection remix all the time...that vodafone event was 2001..his set the following year was nothing special...his qbh set along with his gk 2001 and tribes 2001 sets are his best ever in oz

Posted by Light The Fuse on Mar-08-2008 13:27:

Posted by Aesthetic on Mar-11-2008 04:25:

and then once upon a time they started a night at Room (republic?? from memory) sean quinn almost single handedly killed prog and himself for good.

J00f imo played the best set i've ever heard him play at Two tribes 2002/2003 (the one with tiesto, fergie picotto etc in the same room)....I remember when he dropped cafe del mar j00f remix... by far as one of his best remixes of that style....he played some seriously deep tunes that night....

Posted by Aesthetic on Mar-13-2008 00:22:

Republic never killed prog.. It lasted quite a while, longer than most club nights. I remember standing at the back watching him drop Passive Agressive / brothers in rhythm mix and everyone lost their mind

Posted by christos on Mar-13-2008 00:51:

dude it did die because of his attempt at educating people with boring prog....I remember walking in one night with 20 people rocking to sean quinn...those were bizarre times indeed.
