-- Is this cheating?

I always put key/bpm on cd's here. Because it makes easier on me.
I'm using traktor with beatgrids, and I don't need to beatmatch at all (besides hitting the "sync" button), so I'm getting a real good kick out of these replies!
Guess what, beatmatching is rather insignificant, and if I didn't have software to aid me (I still need to set the grids!) I'd pre-label the CD/Vinyls/Tapes/what the fuck ever with BPM and Key information. Music is math, so why not apply the formulas?
Track selection, reading the crowd, transitions - that's way more difficult and important than beatmatching.

Your mate is probably a terrible DJ if he needs to talk that much shit.
I side with the majority on this one, i don't feel it's cheating. it's no more cheating than drawing a line across the label for scratching. its no different than knowing from hearing the vinyl so many times that's it's slower than your other live vinyl or whatnot. just saves you a few moments so you can concentrate on other areas is my point of view.
