Really, if you live in a first-world country, you're going to value material things. Unless you've been conditioned all your life not to. Especially if you're a little kid. |
Oh, I guess that's a pretty good excuse then.

I don't value material things. Where did my parents go wrong??
Posted by Nrg2Nfinit on Mar-01-2008 23:31:
You guys are all idiots. The reason why they did that is that he sneaked a peak at the presents the night before. I would have given him coal or something. Stupid spoiled kid with that crystal meth hair do. Fuuck

Yes, I'm sure you've never valued anything material in your life.

Really?
I like the concept of relinquishing possession, but I find that some things I own are important to me. I mean physical things. Not just for the fact that they are mine, but because they represent something to me that is an elevation of their worth. That is to say, the thought or consideration things can elicit may very well be far more important than the item, itself - but there is still a representation that does not go unvalued and I would be quite remiss were I to lose some of these things.
I value some material things. Because living only with the considerations they represent would be a testament to the fact that there is no need to possess anything, ever - even your body, feelings, experience. Maybe you're a lofty fucking monk who can float on farts and dreams, Jennypie, but the rest of us are real. GET REAL. JESUS.

Seemed to me that the parents were just being assholes.
Besides, valuing material things isn't all bad anyway.

Yes really. But maybe that's because I experienced lot of shit in my childhood that helped to see at a young age what's truly important in life. And I'd really rather not get into that.

Fuck, people have gotten more bored than I thought possible. |
naaahh.... you're just entertaining!
So, my thoughts on the clip....
I think it's really easy to post only part of the entire video on youtube like they did.
Like another poster mentioned... where did they get the box for the game system?
I have no doubt the unposted second half of the video shows the rest of the present opening, and he opens a gift box from Gap or something, and the xbox is in there.

Good, because I didn't want to know anyways!
But wow. You know what's really important in life? I've been looking for this lately. Please, share what your conclusions are and I will do my best to antagonize your very personal holdings.

Important to ME. Not to everyone else. I was even going to edit it because I knew you'd fucking jump all over it, asshole.
Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Mar-01-2008 23:45:
Good to know I almost keep you on your toes with the edits?
Posted by Audious on Mar-01-2008 23:45:
And it obviously gives you license to decide what is and isn't important for everyone else.

No the box actually belonged to their neighbor. He didn't get an xbox. Did you see the clothes they bought him? Did you see where they lived? I seriously doubt they could afford an xbox 360.

People who do not apply their hard-earned conclusions to others far more ignorant then themselves are really, really boring. There is nothing wrong with having sound convictions, so long as you can back them up.
