but when you build the tracks and drop in the tasty shit every once in awhile, the effect is that much better.

and i dont know how you can say he "mainstreamed out", especially since you said your friend saw him the other night and his set was "more like his older style". to me, that shows that he's a good dj, that he changes up his sets so he doesn't play the same shit every show. there's nothing more mainstream than playing all the hits every night.

What an awesome night! Both Zabs and Deadmau5 were amazing. Definitely one of my favorite nights at Vanguard. Only complaint was that it was overly crowded but I have learned to expect that there. I did get to meet another TA, Kittycrush! Great to meet you

Amazing night! JZ killed it! Vanguard was crowded, but once we found a spot, most people were cool and it was very comfortable. What a great night!

He was playing alot more 4x4 stuff with a bunch more melody instead of the usual electro breaks. I was surprised at the amount of melody. But it doesn't matter whut kind of stuff he was playing. His mixing and flow of tracks was pretty flawless that night. The good thing is every time i've seen him its been something different.

Deadmau5 seriously killed it. Blew away his set at Circus in Dec!! 1st time seeing James Z. Fun set. Danced our asses off and had an awesome night! The place is always packed, so no big deal; good energy

Im not saying every single drop an effect or every other song.

Im just saying having fun with the music effects, no doubt its what he does. But i do reckon he would do this an ample amount in his older sets, not just in the beginning.

As far as mainstreaming out, he played an Axwell track in closing (one of my personal fav songs at the moment). Thats something i don't think he would have done a few years ago, let alone in closing.

But to each his own, these are just my thoughts; not worth beating a dead horse over.

In the end JZ killed it and Joel killed it, what else can anyone ask for?
