At first I thought it was a boring collection of noises but then I took some time to closely listen to it and now I love it. Very hypnotizing, makes you lose yourself in the music. Cant wait to hear it live.

thats what i was starting to think but does every song need 2 go somewhere? i enjoy it for what it is. plus it doesn't sound half bad cued in properly and layered over another track if you want it to go somewhere.

Great track

Posted by phant0m on Mar-17-2008 18:23:

I like it as an intro in Digweed's "Transitions".

Posted by kadomony on Mar-17-2008 18:29:

I love it, but I can't think of where the hell I would put it in a set.

Posted by SuspicionVandit on Mar-17-2008 19:32:

I rejected the original mix at first (thought it was boring and bland like the others here), but I've fallen in love with it over repeated listens. The video above really shows the power of it live (hope it gets played at Coachella).
Three's Dub, I'm not feeling at all, and I've listened to it several times over.

yeah, ima have to agree that three's dub is boring as hell.

Sasha usually never goes wrong with a tune but this strange ambient prog or however you describe it is weird and unorthodox as hell. that three stars remix is terrible too but it seems like these tunes are only suited for the clubs because they sound terrible at home

Dude, go bump your phat electro and quit commenting on music you have no precedent for. Unorthodox.

I don't see how Coma is "unorthodox."

It's right in keeping with the current trend of releasing musically spare tracks filled with different kinds of distortion, delays, quick-decay bleeps and chirps, and noise washes.

It doesn't go "vwamp vwamp vwamp vwamp" and Benny Benassi isn't playing it.

It's not the formulaic, preset filled electro fair he's used to, thats for sure.

Yeah.

Remember, though -- electro-house is what's keeping EDM alive.

LOL.

Unless it's Mismoplastico...

haha, is this guy mattsanity out of all people seriously downplaying other people's tastes? fucking irony.

Posted by SMC on Mar-18-2008 00:03:

The question is: what kind of an asshole uses "unorthodox" as a pejorative in the 21st century?

I'll never understand the "it doesnt go somewhere" argument....for me presonally, it doesnt have anything to do with anything

Posted by DiegoParra32 on Mar-18-2008 21:37:

i get it to a certain sense cuz some songs don't have to build into anything to sound great, but some need to or else they will bore the piss out of me.

Posted by idoru on Mar-18-2008 22:17:

I almost lost my water at "unorthodox."

I second that (or third)

"it doesn't go somewhere" means (from what i get) that the tune doesn't have a theme or a clear idea, but, as in the current case, uses lots of filling elements like all sorts of effects or micro-melodies that sound like they are created for the purpose of filling the track (music-by-numbers) not for the purpose of personal artistic expression...as is the case here...! There is nothing musical about the current track and studio trickery doesn't equal musicality.

I have to say though that the remixes of "Coma" are definitelly the most "directional" of all the EmFire tarcks which IMO (and in most cases) sound like generic and souless clinical bollocks. The dj three dub is more trancey and warm, whereas the Ki: Theory is a nice downtempo number which IMO is the best one. Still, they are nothing special.
