i prefer bars over clubs 98/100.
bars are good for shooting the shit, and they're especially good in the summer time when you can hang outside and enjoy the weather and cigarettes and the music isn't as loud.

I just don't understand how people can listen to Sweet Home Alabama every single time they go out...seriously in the past 7 years pretty much every time I've gone out I've heard that damn song. If it isn't classic rock, country or 80s music, it is some type of crappy pop music which makes my ears bleed. In addition, the music is so loud you have to scream. I don't know maybe it's just me but bars are not fun and I really wish I could understand why people go and most importantly how do you get people to pay to go to a bar and listen to the same thing over and over and over again... *sports bars are somewhat of an exception because there is an activity associated with going... |
yeah i'm in manhattan, i have no problem going somewhere to hang out with friends and have a drink what i said i HAVE a problem with are loud bars which play shit music and you can't even talk because you are being drowned out by the less than stellar music THEN you have those absolutely wasted people pretty much right on top of you singing the crappy tune. i think people get much much much drunker at bars because they are standing/sitting in one spot for god knows how long just getting wasted...might as well get comfortable at home or a cool lounge and drink AND talk with your friends.
i like watching sports at some bars, i enjoy watching the stanley cup playoffs, olympics, world cup and select other sporting events at bars but the focus is the sport not getting wasted and hitting on women. ugh i rather get hit on at a club.

Thankfully I've found this cool bar in my city. The music isn't too loud, so you can actually hear your friends there. And they play some rock stuff only, which in my opinion sucks but at least it's listenable. You also don't have to wait for your drink for 10+ minutes like in some club wannabe we have here. I hate standing there at the bar, trying to go in front of people so I could actually order my drink and then wait some more before I can take the drink back to the table.
Most of the time the people are ok but there's always the possibility that someone's an ass. Once some guy came to me complaining that my Angerfist shirt and it's pic of a fist was provoking him. He wanted to go to the bathroom with me and snap my neck, at least it's always better than getting raped by an ugly piece of shit like him
Watching someone getting kicked out of the bar is always fun
I like going to bars only with a small (2-5 is pretty good) group of good friends.
Bars are good for having a few drinks and talking shit with friends. I'm usually more of a club person, but bars can be good to just chill out and catch up with mates, or as a pre-party for before the clubs open.
yeah, bars are great when you're with friends. They are equally great when you're alone and are a raging alcoholic. Maybe you're neither... how boring. I bet you're a killjoy to hang out with!

Bars are there to go out with friends and have a good time, while still being able to talk to them, which is essentially the most important thing.
When was the last time you had a nice conversation in a club? I don't remember one because it was way too fucking loud and was all about the music anyway.
I don't get some of you people. It's like saying, why go to a lounge bar in the middle of the day for a beer or a cafe for a coffee, when there's no music and nothing to do
