Flyer updated!

Not a fan of either EDC really this year but I would say the LA one is better. Sucks this has to be the event Above and Beyond will be at in Colorado instead of a club sppearance.

They get AB, but we get CL, MDJ, BB and PVD... I can still take that

Posted by CrazedOut on May-01-2008 02:32:

Great. Last year's line up, part of it, lol.

Would go if I could though.

We're getting all of them with in the next month and the following at the club (Beta) except for Menno. So, it works out about the same and won't have to miss one

Also this is the PARTIAL line up....

Posted by element-y on May-01-2008 05:13:

Yea but thats not how you need to look at it sergio. The Denver massives suck. They usually go for one big name from each genre instead of trying to pair stages up with genres or acts. Saying that CL and PVD ad BB are coming to Beta doesnt justify EDC from sucking. The lineup so far really isnt that deep. The price isnt that much as a total for all those. I don't do colorado massives because nothing works. No flow from mainstage artists. One genre to the next. EDC in cali manages it well, not the best lineup this year compared to others in the past, but it has flow. Not just random big names thrown into a massive - like colorado always does. Be great for once to have a massive that works properly with flow. Triad fails big time on that behalf. Hope Insomniac can pull with some more to aid this first time event in Colorado.

Posted by omega1n on May-01-2008 05:26:

Like I told you before though... We're not California!! You can't expect us to be like them or NY or Europe. If any one tries to do one genre for one stage here on multiple stages, it won't work. There's not enough people to fill the venue as opposed to CA.

So you won't go because of the flow?? I go because there are specific artist I want to see regardless of who is on next. That's why there's different stages. Don't like one stage, go to the next...

Posted by omega1n on May-01-2008 05:30:

BTW, wasn't saying that PVD and such coming to Beta justifies the line up

Posted by drEamer on May-01-2008 05:52:

the vibe last year at global was pretty shietty...mos def not cali

Posted by element-y on May-01-2008 19:15:

Saying it isnt cali though isnt an excuse. Look, massives DO get people. However those in the scene HATE them in colorado cause they fail terribly. Tickets are sold, so why not use the money in an appropriate manner and actually try to appeal to those in the scene instead of the ravers who only do massives and raves? THe money is there, the agents can book - as evident with club nights. So why not try for a proper massive? If you dont try with one you will never know. And im not saying one genre per stage, just match the artists better. This applies to Hallowfreakinween, GDF, etc. All of them. I mean in this case you have both Triad and Insomniac and Beatport working on the event, Id expect something more. You cant keep putting colorado down as an excuse for lamer versions of parties or clubs. It is that reason that people dont support as strong. The scene here views itself as not California or europe etc. and therefore doesnt pull in as strong. Beta is a HUGE step up for Denver and is about time. With competition, The Church and Vinyl will improve as well. More talent, more money flowing into the scene. All they need to work on now is the massives here. They have tested the waters many times now and they have been successfull to a point in attracting people, so why not go bigger?

buying my tix before they go up

There you go, people in the "scene" are less than the ravers. This is a business and they have to appeal to a bigger crowd which is the ravers. I hear what you're saying and all but it doesn't work in this state! TD have tried it once doing it differently but lost tons of $$$. Look at all these new companies trying to throw events here in CO. Same attitude like yours that they'll do it differently, appeal to a different crowd, blah blah blah... They end up failing miserably, they try it again, fail again, then you never hear of them again. There's a reason why TD is the longest and strongest production commpany in the state.
Bitching about the line up to TD does not do you any good because they're just the ones promoting this and making this event happen. Insomniac are the ones in charge of the artists...

Posted by element-y on May-02-2008 00:57:

TD arnt pitching into the event at all with money - outside of promotion? Are you sure? Thing is though TD has the name right now in Colorado. Yea I understand they had to do what they did in the past, but I think they are large enough now to try and go bigger. I could be wrong, but just looking at sales and venue locations, it keeps getting better and better. More and more are being dragged into the scene, Just seems like it could be a good time already to try and take it a step further. I mean with Insomniac now feeling comfortable in starting an EDC event in colorado, that tells you something is going well in colorado. I dunno, just seems like most everyone i speak to that go to the clubs are dissapointed with the massives and not because of the whole bullshit argument about Kandy kids attending and what not, but rather that the lineup just isnt appealing. Yea true you cant appeal to everyone, but there is more they can do than what they are doing right now. Maybe the expeirence with Insomniac will help TD for future festivals. I mean Caffeince and the other massive at that park zone fun place thing - always flops with lineups. And not saying this from my taste, just in general, it is very very cheap, the same every year for the most part, and not much really goes into it. TD seems to just be floating around and not taking it further than possible. Just in three years being in the state i have noticed more and more going to clubs - and this isnt about bookings - looking at the same dj from 3 years ago to today and crowd size. I think GDF this year is a step up from previous years in trying to go for a flow. Now lets see if they can do so with their other events. As for EDC, if TD isnt involved in bringing artists, lets hope Insomniac does - but usually only one more name gets added to the event that the most are aware of. The others are though could be good, are in the end stage filler to the common eye

Ugh..... next EDC Colorado please - only slightly better

OR stick to LA and just work on making those get better and better - since they are already good

Posted by omega1n on May-09-2008 16:34:

This is not good enough?? There's new talent on there that's never been here. Beats the same old gay ass Tiesto's and Choakenfold's...

Im super excited that Jaytech is on the line up. Im sure he'll open for A&B.

No man! It's the PLUR Patrol, get it right!

Posted by element-y on Jun-15-2008 19:43:

haha. no just thought they found a place to have an outdoor stage as well. That is what i like best about the outdoor festivals. Not having the indoor feel (like tents) but rather the open with music.

All in all its great htey are giving it a go in CO
