-- Diddy does underground dance music?
Pages (2): « 1 [2]
if the tracks produced had a different name, would people still not like them?
He's collaborating with heavy hitters like Erick Morillo... and maybe cuz emerge an interest to the non EDM'ers? Hoping for the best... hopefully we can catch up to the rest of the world soon.
Hope to God Diddy's endorsement of EDM doesn't bring the hip-hoppers to the EDM clubs
why would it not be good to bring in some newer people? Educate a bit and maybe shine the light??
I actually ran into quite a few of my old school san diego homies who r def influences in hiphop while at wmc and they've made a change, still holding true to their roots.
maybe i'm just too open minded?

it's more of the wrong vibe that (most) hip-hoppers bring with them that is what i try to stay away from all these years. but who knows, it might just my feel of the idea
true that. however lets not forget where the diddy originally came from... and the respectable person he has transformed into in his industry as well as his other ventures.

NOT SURE HOW WE FEEL ABOUT HIM BEING IN TO DANCE MUSIC..HMMM
It's cool if Diddy has a genuine interest in EDM, but honestly I think it's more of a capitalization move. He's just looking to cash in and add to his domination movement. He's probably aware that even though EDM is not that popular in the USA, it is very much popular around the world. If this does persuade new comers to the club, I hope they have an open mind and come with the right mentality.
Always open to new comers in the EDM scene, but these new comers must know that our club scene don't value things like... who wearing high end brands,or spending the whole night making judgements on each other.... and even more who's hooking up with who... The average hip-hop club goer usually has a way different agenda for the night.
From my experience and the insane number of events I've attended, I can say that we only care about the DJ, music, dancing, and simply having a good time. As soon as I walk into a club, I forget about everything else and just look forward to an exciting night.
I'll be dammed if some ass with an over size "white tee" decides that he wants to fight because a person "slightly" brushed his shoulder or accidently stepped on his new "kicks". That stuff never matters at places I've attended... that includes all the Hollywood & San Diego clubs along with our crazy annual massives. Rarely see any fights at any of these events.
I gave up on the hip hop clubs long time ago. And this is coming from a black guy that grew up in Compton...lol
I really got tired of the brawls or the gun shots in the parking lots. Ever since I found EDM in 98, I never looked back! Many of my friends from back in the day think Im crazy for listening to trance. They feel that Im not keeping it real. And that is exactly what I would rather not deal with when I come out to the clubs!
Yeah, I may have on shorts, hoodie, and a visor but Im here to party and have a good time with friends! No one cares about the materialistic stuff, youre just excepted as you are.
I know this thread particularly was about Diddy, but with his interest, these are some of the things that could effect out party scene.
Again, Im open to new comers, just check that thug and keeping it real shit at the door!!

| Originally posted by Andrieux I don't mind newcomers into the scene, I encourage it. But my point was that I would hate to see all the "thugs" come to the EDM clubs cuz Diddy says it's cool. |
