No, I'm actually trying to get some kind of an answer to my original question.

alright. the reason I thought your post was taking the easy way out is because you didn't explain what you find to be so terrible about his music.

Posted by PETRAN on Apr-01-2008 19:34:

I liked "Ambient". I remember that i used to like "Play" when it was first released, but after repeatetive listens...it just didn't pass the test of time. Well, it was a kind of ambient-pop i guess, nothing more nothing less (To tell you the truth the ambient b-sides of both "Play" and "18" were more interesting). But i still listen to "Ambient" from time to time.

As for the "genius" thing, he could be a pop genius but in no way a musical genius.

I do believe I explained it in my very first post, accompanied with the fact that I simply do not like his music.

So was that a a "yes" or "no"?

moby used to be awesome and still sometimes is, but his personality seems so weird, he doesnt have a car, not drivers license, he doesnt eat meat and he lives in a small place in NYC eventho he has money. he is cyckling around in the city looking like an budhist, he must hate people or something.

he lives in a multi-million dollar converted loft space with spectacular views. he's banged every scenester chick within a 10-mile radius of new york city and is out on the town multiple times a week, even as he's pushing deeper into his mid-40s.

not exactly a misanthrope.

[he's also been really solid in the monthly nyc party he's been throwing the past few months.]

Sure enough it is, but that wasn't my point.

then what exactly is your point? why would I praise someone's work if I wasn't serious and when there wasn't a single trait of sarcasm within my post? answering that question would have been nothing more than redundant.

My point? If you had answered my question the first time around you would had saved about 4 further responses.

Are you guys taking psychedelic drugs in order to have these surreal dialogues!?

Posted by RapidFire on Apr-01-2008 21:00:

you really just argue for the sake of arguing don't you?

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Apr-01-2008 21:05:

You'd think so, but no.

Posted by RapidFire on Apr-01-2008 21:11:

right, keep telling yourself that.

This thread went downhill very fast. I'm somewhat disappointed.

Probably not, but it sure makes reading them more entertaining!

I'm just glad I have the 'old school' Play album that does NOT feature Gwen Stefani. Respect for Moby.

Posted by Lebezniatnikov on Apr-02-2008 03:23:

Wow, I'm surprised to see the hate in here. I agree with Rapidfire - aside from some bad moments on Hotel (on which there were a few good moments as well), Moby is easily one of my favorite artists. Play is of course great, but the B-Sides were even better, as were the B-Sides of Hotel. 18 was a solid album, Animal Rights to me was very unique, and I'm not even getting into his early rave stuff that everyone here seems to adore (of which I don't think that highly).

Seriously - Play B-Sides, and Hotel Disc 2: Ambient. Great stuff.

Agree, "Play" is fantastic. Actually, I'm listening to it now
