It's about joining the important (eating) with the pleasurable (socialising)... that's the best I can put it

Yes, believe it or not, I understand that. I just don't want to get to know any of you.

No, I'm kidding. Seriously, give me a shout if you decide to head out for Dim Sum one day.

(P.S. I appreciate the bold text - I might have missed that part if you hadn't properly emphasized it!)

Oh well, then you should have told me, lol Didn't I just send you a message about that recently on FB? Oh well, never mind. I'm glad you didn't forget. I can't wait for this event to materialize!

OK... so let's decide on a day... I tend to prefer weekdays after work, but endless_summer prefers like a weekend afternoon. I could still do weekends too otherwise.

How's it with everyone?

I would also prefer a weekend afternoon, as I tend to work long hours during the work-week and I don't always have a fixed time at which I could leave... but both options are fine with me. I can accomodate if necessary

The dates and places that people are suggesting so far sound good... I would also prefer to do this thing after April 30th, as I'll probably be busy until then.

Thanks to everyone interested. Please keep the suggestions coming in!

Believe it or not, emphasized text can sometimes help people take notice of the important info in a written passage - I guess that's why books use italicized words every once in a while Anyways, I bold out certain words in my e-mail communication with customers and clients in my job too (sometimes). Must be some sort of a psychological trait

I'll let you know.

And I thought italicized words in books generally refer to referenced sources, foreign words and phrases, and vocal accents in quoted dialog. Maybe I need to read more. And stop receiving my e-mail in plain text.

I have to apologize now for the off-topic. I promise it won't happen again.

mmmm.. cevapi definitely my favorite food.

2 good locations I can think of:

Three brothers bar & grill
657 the Queensway Etobicoke ON

jolly bar
165 dufferin street (south of king)
thursdays after dinner extends into the unwind party with some proper house beats at this location.

This is precisely what I was thinking.
I am the opposite of what one would call a picky eater, but onions are the only exception... they are the one thing I will not put in my mouth.

Holler the lettuce and tomato though ... I'm thinking some kind of sour cream-ish type thing too... I can't explain what it is in english... close to tzaziki sauce I suppose.

aaaaaaaaaaand now I have to go eat something

you can add:
Kajmak (kaymak) - looks like cream cheese but much better!
and/or
Ajvar (Ayvar) - vegetable spread made of eggplants, red bell peppers... comes mild or hot

everything else will kill the experience

+1

Being brown and eating brown food almost everyday.....onions arent alien stuff for me but in the pic above its just onions and kebob thingy......There has to be other stuff besides onions.....Its too much onions even for Baldjinder.

Posted by nycionx on Apr-15-2008 03:36:

lol ya kajmak is the best.

i dont know who else makes it, but you basically boil milk (100% unpasturized - direct from the cows) and when that thick mushy layer forms on top, you take it off and put in a container. you repeat the process but with another pot of milk, cuz the amount you get from one is very little, and you want alot!
then you cool it all in the fridge and it becomes a paste, like butter only much harder. it tastes amazing esp when you put on hot stuff like hamburger so it melts..
damn i miss it

its expensive too cuz mostly the village people make it and theres less and less village people in serbia
i remember paying 40 dinars (~75cents) for just one spoon full last summer
all other toppings they offer for free in the hamburger

Posted by Abercrombie on Apr-15-2008 04:33:

When endless_summer introduced me to Cevapi last year, it was with kajmak. It tasted like tsaziki except without the cucumber and dill.

When I bought a large frozen box to take home after a a cultural grocery shopping spree, it's the only close thing I could get up here in Aurora. (I know, shu-up, blasphemy, I KNOW!)

Nothing wrong with souvlaki or gyro. You MUST have it over bbq though. Commercialized versions of it do NOT hold a candle to what we do here in the summer.

As for cevapi, mebbe.
