I got my 300mm L lens from ebay, for $900 USD. I don't know if you call that a good price or not, but it's a SHITLOAD cheaper than I could find it anywhere in Australia.

well since it was a shitload cheaper, then it was a deal. doesnt matter if its a deal here, as youre not here.

most deals are to be had for people who are outside the United States actually.

You have such a low price on anything electronic or specialized in general that it only makes sense in a way that ebay would barely manage to offer cheaper prices.

yeah im aware. i remember when i was on IRC that my oz and brit friends would bitch and moan cause some piece of hardware that was $100usd here is approximately $200usd there. they were very envious in that respect.

ebay australia is about to launch a policy that payment can only be made with paypal or COD, no bank transfers. You can be pretty sure that they're testing this policy out in a backwater like oz first before trying it on in bigger markets.
the ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) is investigating it for anti-competitive practices, but they've been proven a pretty ineffective watchdog in many areas lately

wait
so they're making it so you HAVE to go through paypal?
for fuck's sake :crap:

Posted by tubby on Apr-16-2008 04:46:

yes, they're trying to force everything through paypal

Posted by Sushipunk on Apr-16-2008 04:49:

Yeah, that kinda blows huh. I hope the ACCC kick some arse, but I doubt it'll happen.

Yeah, but a lot of people don't want to use paypal, and so won't be purchasing on ebay at all. No people purchasing means no money for ebay.

i dont disagree. i personally hate paypal as its too restricting, doesnt have enough oversight, and can sieze peoples funds for no reason.

Yeah, so true. To tell the truth though, I like using paypal as a buyer, but as a seller, not so much. Plus, they offer SHIT exchange rates on international currencies, often quite a few cents lower than the banks. Fucks me right off.

i dont even really like them as a buyer. they seriously piss me off with the fact that they dont delete credit cards off when you delete yours.

I'm looking at new headlights for my Mach 1. I was going to get aftermarkets, but they just don't last that long, especially here in Florida. I'm going to get OE's from Ford.

get aftermarket GLASS headlamps. not this plastic shit. if you want to save money, you can take a high grit sand paper, like 600 and sand the surface of the light assembly. then take a plastic polish and spray the headlight. then use 1000 grit sand paper and sand the surface and spray a second coat. you can apply more coats if you so prefer.

Just picked up this for 1 Euro:

.... but with 5.6 Euro for shipping, at $10 USD doesn't seem like such a bargain. Sigh. Tho, I do love that track.

$150 delivered

i tried making some money on ebay by selling a laptop i bought at a discount price. By the time ebay & paypal took their share, I came out exactly even! I hate paypal & hate ebay. but i will keep trying to crack its system and try to make some profit. others are doing it somehow.
