what's wrong with centralizing info?
and it's not about saving few seconds a day, it's about being at least up to par with development and technological innovations, and also making it more convenient for public to use it

And WTF is wrong with the transit unions? Do they really think a strike is going to help them win public opinion? I would be more impressed if they came out and said, "We're in a legal strike position and we cannot reach an agreement with the TTC on this issue. Nevertheless, we will continue to serve the people of Toronto while we continue to work with the commission to develop a fair and progressive solution. I encourage all TTC riders to contact the commission and tell them just how important the transit network is to you and to the continued economic growth of our city."

Instead what they have done is taken out ads on the subways and buses trying to get you on their side. Their "worth a million" and "Toronto transit city city" ads try to get you on their side. 'our workers work so hard, and want to improve your system', yeah right.

The unions need to get a clue. If they are going to be asking for mandatory raises every year, then we need to see some mandatory performance increases. I am fine with cost of living increases, but if they ask for more than 5%/year, then hell I want to see these guys begging to take my ticket.

as someone mentioned before...

PRIVATIZATION

We need to abolish the Labours...

Personally, I don't agree with the entire concept of labours. It just promotes drastic inefficiencies, especially for a service that should be deemed an ESSENTIAL service

TTC union eyes Monday a.m. strike
Head of local says work stoppage is likely if a deal is not reached by Sunday

In a move to heat up contract negotiations, the head of the TTC's largest union says "more likely than not" he will warn today that commuters should expect a Monday morning strike to halt all buses, subways and streetcars unless a deal is reached by Sunday.

Bob Kinnear, head of local 113 of the Amalgamated Transit Union, has scheduled a press conference for 11:30 a.m., during which he could give slightly more than his promised 48 hours notice of a walkout that would paralyze the city's public transit system.

I am staunchly opposed to unions.

This isn't the 20's, there are governmental protection in place that make unions not only obselete, but relegate them to nothing more than a pain-in-the-ass complaints department.

Go fuck yourselves, 113.

You can thank socialism for that bureaucracy!

I cringe when the time comes (and it will) when it will be mandatory for everyone to have RFID chips into our bodies.

i dont mind this smart card as long as no personal info is attached to it.

Do we have to be for such little return? About convenience... that's my point... how far will technology make everything so conventient to the point we don't need to leave the house anymore.

That point doesn't stand because this technology is aimed at getting out of the house and around the city.
