Yeah, the best is when someone comes by and compliments you up there. Great feeling.

HA!

Once some wasted mother****** came over and threatened to "disconnect all my shit" if I didn't "play some reggeaton" so he could "get all touchy-feely with some bitches"...

The same night, I got a girl who was mesmerized by what I was doing and asked me if I let her try one transition. Funny thing is she knew her shit since she begged me to play "Xpander". I had to politely tell her she couldn't mix a song in, but I did drop Xpander to close my set.

And also I found the Deep Dish story very funny because earlier that night, during the first hour of my set I had some geeks walk over trying to get all 'conoseiur' and asked if I had any Deep Dish.

Ah, what a night...lol

Lately I've had to deal with fucked up girls wanting a personalized DJ lesson at the end of afterparties...really fucking annoying. Even when they're hot I just can't be bothered.

so question time... back in the bedroom today i started learning to beatmatch inside the headphones and then bring in the cued track with eq'ing, which is all good n cute, works like a charm. but in the club environment, cant i just do this also?
I know the monitor is good if im keeping an eye on the sound levels being kosher whilst mixing between tracks, but do i need the monitor at all for beatmatching or can i just do it in my headphones and turn the booth monitor down whilst doing so?

What headphones do you have? My MDR-V500's are shit in isolating external sound...

Gives you the fuzzys

I've always wondered this.

For those of you who play out, do you get irritated with people complimenting you after your set? Would you rather just be left alone to enjoy the party, or maybe given a simple handshake or "the nod?"

Sometimes I see it as people just trying to be affiliated with the DJ, because it seems they don't know shit about what's going on while he's spinning.

I don't mind and neither did Claude VonStroke when I shook his hand lol... I waited politely after he finished the transition

Yeah that's the worst, when someone tries to get your attention DURING a transition.

provided the club mixer lets you cue multiple channels at once, sure, you can definitely beatmatch and mix like that. I personally find that beatmatching like that in a club is a little strange...it kind of disconnects you from the crowd a bit, as you're totally engaged with both your ears in beatmatching. I can do both, but I find it more practical (and fun) to beatmatch with one ear to the monitors when I'm playing out.

Clovis knows those could just be rival DJ's in disguise (ala Bugs Bunny when he dressed as a chick) after his DJ tricks and tracks. You gotta watch out in this game.

Indeed, DJs pop out of top hats these days.
