Love it!

I have my iPhone in the states through AT&T. Hopefully Rogers' plans are simmilar to AT&T's. I pay around $150 a month for 900 minutes, 200 texts, and unlimited data. I had to add an international data package so that AT&T doesn't rape me when I come up to Toronto and use my internet.

I love my iPhone. It's more of a pocket computer than a phone. Also, the fact that it works through the screen means that there's endless upgrades that can happen until Apple comes out with a new design, which isn't on the horizon just yet. The 2.0 software upgrade is slated to be released in June/July, free to all iPhone users.

Holy shit, $150/mo? And you're getting EDGE data speeds too, ugh what a joke.

The iPhone we get had better goddamn well be 3G or else it is a complete waste.

The iPhone STILL isn't out in Canada???? Jesus.....

Posted by geroin on Apr-30-2008 00:23:

i think anyone who wanted an ipod has already got it, by the time they get it it will be outdated by some other phone

I hate to sound like a fanatic but the only phone that will ever beat the iPhone is the next iPhone.

i think its kinda embarrassing that rogers is only releasing it now.

alot of shit is designed for the american consumers and Canadians have to use back door methods to get shit...

The Iphone in and of itself isn't a problem for anyone.

It's just really creepy to see people get super excited over the release of ANY product, especially one that is basically a re-tread of something we've already had for many, many years. The Iphone will revolutionize nothing. I mean, it's a PHONE. It MAY at BEST make your work life mildly more convenient but it's nothing to get excited about. Many, many of the people I see excited over this sort of thing don't even work in business, they just think it's "neat".

The automobile changed the world, the 1988 Dodge lineup did not.

Radio changed the world, sattelite radio will not.

Motion pictures changed the world, motion pictures on a bigger screen with surround sound did not.

Television changed the world, HDTV will not.

The telephone (and again to a lesser extent the cell phone) changed the world, the Iphone will not.

It's all just the same old, same old in a newer package with features of questionable actual use and a glitzy ad campaign designed to make you buy something you already have.

Personally I wonder about anyone that gets excited about ANY product, whether it's the new spring line of clothes, the 2008 roll out of vehicles or whatever digital crap is making "news" this month. New STUFF just isn't that exciting, expecially if it's really not going to make your life appreciably better. It's all just proof that professional marketers are smarter than the average Joe - our job is to keep as much of our money in our pockets as we can and their job is to seperate us from our money as fast as they can. It's a battle and they seem to be winning in a lot of cases and with less and less effort each year.

When people start talking about loving Apple (or any corporation) all is pretty much lost. Not that you have to HATE corporations either, generally speaking I don't. But to succumb to the idea of brand loyalty is scary. LOYALTY is a powerful concept and to apply it to a faceless body whose only mission is to take as much money from you as they can get away with without making you angry enough to stop giving them that money is inappropriate.

But what do I know, I don't carry any sort of cell phone. Never saw the point, I have phones at home and at work that ring plenty already.

Thank you early adopters for bearing the outragous cost of pointless new products so that the good things in them can be pillaged and eventually filter down to the mainstream and be put to good use. We live in very interesting times where people are actually willing to plunk down $2,400 per year (if you think that iPhone plans are going to be less than $200 per month in Canada you are dreaming) so that they can browse the web and read their email while they hurtle down the freeway at 70mph in their Mini Coopers.

Yes, save for the bit about :

"But what do I know, I don't carry any sort of cell phone. Never saw the point, I have phones at home and at work that ring plenty already."

He's trivializing cell phones' value in general, when they offer a remarkable amount of freedom and convenience for individuals in almost ANY LOCATION or situation.

I cant even begin to describe how much easier things have gotten for me with traveling to and in the city of Toronto (from Collingwood)since i gotta a celly.

I am no longer slave to restricted contact. i am now able to be far more dynamic when traveling.

The 2nd Gen iPhone is still a joke!

Move over Rogers ... T Mobile is coming to crush you. Unlimited Data for $75.00!

Ppl who been using their dedicated companies will never switch to Apple. The morons who tried the iPhone ... went back! They will switch back and forth among the other companies if they want a change. The iPhone is for chicks who care about fashion and pics of their dumb ass friends.

Cale EZ on the souljah!

He doesn;t know what your talking about, they are MAC users. Remember, they only know how to click and drag ... when something goes wrong they bring it back to Apple and they charged 400x more for what they could of fix the prob themself.

and that is one of the reasons why the iPhone hasn't been released in Canada yet..no one can actually afford to have a data plan on the iPhone.

Until Rogers/Fido (or someone else) can get an unlimited data plan in Canada for a reasonable price (say $100/month) then the iPhone is no use to people.

Unless you solely plan on using it for WiFi...but what's the point in that. Might as well get the new Blackberry 9000 and get your company to pay for the data...it looks so pretty :P lol

naa I don't think so...

iPhone has nothing to do with fashion dude... It has tons of capabilities, people just don't use it. My iPhone is literally a mini computer, it has everything a blackberrry has, even more. I even have 4 different emulators on it if I want to play games. Not only that I can watch movies on it.

USA AT&T rates for iPhone start at $59.99 for 450 primetime minutes which have rollover to next month, 5000 minutes evening/weekend, unlimited email/WWW, 200 SMS.

Biggest account is $119.99 for unlimited minutes.

http://www.apple.com/iphone/easysetup/rateplans.html

From news I saw about Apple's deals to get the iPhone into Europe last year, they pressure the wireless companies to get the data rates affordable.

Well i have wifi at school and at home, which is where i spend the vast majority of my time. SO its not so pointless after all.

THe phone also has endless applications avialable for it, literally hundreds of them. It also doubles as an ipod, camera, alarm clock, everything really in one package.

Every PDA Phone is a mini computer, we all have emulators and we all can watch movies. I use to like my SNES emulator, but once I started to play all these new game with touch screen ... never touch my emulators anymore. The thing is, we barely use these functions .... games, movie and etc.

On my Treo
I have 4 diff GPS systems,
there are tons of apps skin to mod the OS
There are so many hacks to improve the OS
I flash any firmware ver on my phone I want
Even if my phone is stolen, there's an app I've installed that can lock, format, ban my IMEI and lock my sim with just txting a code to my phone.
I can control my computer anywhere I want wth my treo
I can unlock my car door via BT
and the list goes on and on and on

The main thing is, there's no restrections at all and i don't need to activate anything through iTunes or any syncing software.

WiFi ... better bring yoru charger with you, that shit drains your batt faster then anything

Since you don't have a real keyboard, you can't txt while doing things ... you gotta look at the screen and hope your pushing the right letters.

Bottom line is ... do you homework and think about it before you buy any APPLE product.
