Just my two cents. |

buchla 200e

Only 10k$ for the entry level one huh..
VL Tone? I think under the 4Beat sub menu it has various insta-beat options for trance, hard trance and psychadeic freeform hardcore?
Plus I heard its good for Moog style basses, so pretty much an all rounder trance synth. Time to throw out your Ti!

lots of controversy here... Nice n thick - just the way I like it. First - virus ti is a half-baked POS, IMHO. If you enjoy pain, chasing bugs, trying to figure out problems you should never have with a $2k+ synth - then by all means. I have nothing bit disdain and loathing for this piece of junk. So much so, that I went out of my way to get a virus c, so that I wouldn't have to deal with all the nonsense, nonresponsiveness from virus support and arrogant twats who spew more spittle than a rabbid mac fanboiii, claiming TI is a perfection itself. If you're convinced that its so great - I'll sell you my polar. Cheap too - only $2k usd.
if you want to learn the synthesis - get a well laid out classic - Juno 106 or Jupiter 6. Learn and enjoy. Simplicity itself. If you want more modern - get nord lead 1 or 3. Be sure nl1 has a 12 voice expansion. If money is tight get smth like yamaha an1x. Not expensive, fantastic keys and can be great midi controller but not the easiest synth to learn.
Anyway, stay away from ROMPLERS like fantom, motif , triton, or vsynth. Btw vsynth is kinda interesting bit a bitch to learn to really enjoy it. Getting skin deep with it will only dissapoint after extensive use.
Best idea - try checking out harmony central reviews before you buy.

Anyway, I sold my Novation Supernova and a few other synths to make room and $$$ for my new toy - it should complement my Polar TI and Nord 2X quite nicely, dontcha think? |
